Blackfoot that actually sounds like an era accurate duel.

the tourny environments do not represent real world rulesets. They are something fun to do. Making them less fun kinda goes against their purpose to begin with.

Could go 6X dexxer with wrestling and cycle the hally to compensate of course you'd be throwing purples instead of casting and well face it, you are going to be hit, get attacked last and autodefend guess that wont work

Or would it :? :?:

No potions
Yes to food, but have hunger take affect

Isn't that how most duels are done outside of tournaments?
No, red pots are always allowed you'll never meet a mage who says "no, food only". Just doesn't happen. This is accurate to 1999.

These are very moot points you guys are trying to argue, and these rules have been in place for nearly 3 years now. What makes you think they're going to be changed just because one player has a terrible ping and feels he is entitled to his own special rules?
Not because of my ping, if you read my first post you would see I mentioned that it will make duels more era accurate. Never in the history of UO did mages eat unlimited food (spamming it) to gain stamina. Instead they drink a red potion to get full stamina then fight and cast spells. Not run around spamming food hoping to juke players who had low pings.

There are numerous reasons why we need to allow red pots in normal tourneys, not just food.

Its irrelevant to the topic but tabbing to save swings is so 2009, tabbing doesn't help anymore.

The fact is tournys should be as accurate as possible, which means hunger should count. Obviously it would make sense to reset hunger to 0 at the beginning of every fight but it needs to be there.

Tabbing still has its place, it's just not as useful since most mages started to spam the hally for most of the fights. On the field it still works well and I manage to use it to my advantage.

Fixing food consumption and allowing red pots would be the only alternative that would ever be considered even though macers would be even more at a disadvantage than they are now.

Sandro wrote:Yes, but that brings the original problem which we fixed in 08' with macers having the upmost advantage when a player becomes full and can no longer eat food, and reaches 0 stamina. If we remove infinite food, then we're back at square one.

There is nothing wrong with the current setup.

The way I look at it is, macers get the major stamina drain. Swordsmen get the big hally hit. Allowing unlimited stamina refresh pretty much removes one of the perks to picking mace fighting. Might as well let heal potions be allowed so macers can negate the big hally hit a little easier (which would not be negated at all considering you can swing a hally faster than you can chug heal pots)

No no, redpotsonly is so that when two dexers fight they don't run out of stamina and drag out the fight until sudden death. It has nothing to do with the hally-cycling exploit that did not exist in such a drastic form during actual t2a...

I have no doubt as an old school UO player(started in 1998) that something is certainly inaccurate with the hally cycling/exploit, but that's another thread of its own!

Red potions are great for dexer fights, I agree. Food is annoying, it should be an option not the only way to refresh stamina. We need red potions!

Yea I know and I believe the exception should be made with red potions. You do realize that having food only actually hurts dexers. Once a mage combos a dexer he has to eat food multiple times in a row to get his stamina back up because spell damage takes off large chunks at a time.

Totally imbalanced for dexers. We aren't asking for heal pots, str, agility ect. Just red potions.

you dont need a free hand for food nerd

plus eating doesnt take any time, if you think having to eat multiple times is hard then you're doing it wrong
