I've been assisting and developing t2a servers since 2001-2002. I have been on all major pre:uor servers in the last decade. To name a few of them RoJ, Blitz, Hubris, IPY, Novus, ATC, DFI, and Div. I will tell you one thing about this server. It is by FAR the most accurate server that has existed and currently exists that aims to replicate the t2a era. I wouldn't say we're far from being a true t2a server at all.

I've played on Div and IPY and while those claimed to be T2A replicas, they were nothing more than T2A elements blended with other rules that players seemed to want from several eras.

We could create an endless debate about how accurate the server is, but there really is no point. The staff may be working to correct accuracy issues, they may be trying to focus on one specific day of T2A gameplay for all I know. There were so many corrections and fixes through the 1998-1999 timeline that it would be impossible to nail them all down.

For instance, publish 22 took place on Nov. 16th, 1999 (http://update.uo.com/design_22.html) - It claims that "Fishing was given a boost" at this period. This is still T2A, be it 6-7 months before the next release. However, it's still T2A. So does that mean this server is picking and choosing the best elements of that era? I have no problem with that. I still think fishing is nerfed beyond playability here and while that being my opinion, being fixed or not, clearly doesn't bother the population that is happy. Point being, I play wherever I am happy and at the moment, i'm having fun doing other things. Fishing being fixed would secure me here for good though.

Again, i'm not trying to trash talk the server and the hard work the staff has put into it. Until I no longer find BASIC missing ingredients to the original era, i'm not going to be convinced that this is a fully dedicated T2A server. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Onl ... Second_Age) - We have no Young Status & We have the ability to resurrect with penalties. Both of which were added and removed respectively, during patches in that ERA.

Anyhow, I really am not interested in having anyone try and convince me. All the convincing I need is to see how the server develops, if it does, and or how interested I stay in the game. Thats pretty much all there is to it.

Just to get rid of any confusion, fish steaks are not "absolutely useless". Eating acts like a refresh potion, it restores a portion of your stamina.

As far as I know though, there is no definitive evidence that it affected skill gain or anything else during the era.

Although it was stated in the T2A playguide that eating increased stamina regeneration rate, it's common belief that this was never implemented. There no indication anywhere that I've seen that eating had any relation to skill gain whatsoever.

Every developer/GM from every server I have played on has stated that eating does not effect a players skill gain. The method has been tested over and over again with people even going as far as not eating on one character and always eating on another while logging the time it took to GM the skill at a non-stop rate of macroing. It must be one of those "unrecorded verbal implements" Faust is always talking about when the information is nowhere to be found, cause it most definately has an effect on skill gain and always has.
Merchant and pirate were for a long period one and the same person. Even today mercantile morality is really nothing but a refinement of piratical morality.

I don't think we need to hear about what you "have done" in the past everytime someone expresses their opinion on the matter. SecondAge is the closest...but it's still not 100% accurate, and that might matter a bit more to others than you realize.

i ALWAYS eat until full on every server after my little incident with zippy of ruo last year. it proved that there was a spot in his code that effected skill-gain even though he absolutely denied it tooth and nail for an entire year (even after i proved he was dead wrong). i sat at 99.7 meditation
FOR 48-52 HOURS on 3 different characters simultaneously until i ate until full, gaining the last .3 within 70 seconds of doing this.

i even made sure to feed them about an hour apart to make sure the stars didn't align, hell didn't freeze over, etc. i don't know if this is the case with every server, but i would assume that it's not out of the realm of possibility since even a ruo developer didn't have his facts straight.

Fishing here is quite nerfed. Treasure loot aside, the sea serpent spawn rate reduction really put a damper on the skill. Fishing was one of the most profitable trades in t2a. Here not so much, more money can be made at GY. Mibs and sea serps drop horrible magic and very low rates. I appreciate all the honest comments from DoomCraft and resent all the trolling and tangential discussions by our less cordial members. The fact remains, if this shard is indeed striving for T2A accuracy, then fishing must be fixed.

PS, I have in fact been pked while fishing on this shard, twice :D. With the boat proximity fix that just passed, I imagine we will see much more of it, as people hold much loot in "secure" areas of their boats (fishermen, miners etc).

I've PK'd a couple of people while fishing, but they were all afk.
So does anyone have any actual proof, resources, anything other than "well this is how I remembered it!"? I enjoy fishing, even if it isn't the most profitable thing in the world, and it would be cool to see more people out there.
