HOWEVER, I DO have issue with someone offering $6gs for one of his buddies pixels and then go and pretend hes innocent when calling gms AFTER his buddy handed his tower over.

Yes, scamming is possible in UO, but conflating that with it being in any way right or acceptable is truly appalling. The lowlifes should be called out on their actions, and publicly.(Not referring to Vega here. The OP only has 7 posts since he joined the forum on October 28th So I think we're obligated to give Vega the full benefit of the doubt here.)

Oh, and to say "everyone does it" is also a wicked distortion. I've been doing a ton of business on this shard recently and so far EVERYONE I HAVE DEALT WITH has been fair and honest and nobody once has tried to scam me. Players like Dyne, Fagabeefe, Bixby, and a slew of others. All straight up honest and pleasant in their dealings. And that's exactly the kind of culture we should be promoting instead of paving the way for cheats and scammers with retarded fkn platitudes about how "this is UO" and pretending like their actions are anything more than what they are, which is morally reprehensible.

Also I'm not obsessed with Vega and am not framing all my comments in that context.... so that could very well explain why the points i'm making don't really register with you.

I'm hearing phrases like "legal scamming", when it's not even a question of legal or illegal. I completely agree that the GMs shouldn't touch it. It's beyond the pervue of shard rules or "the law". But that doesn't make it "right". The fact that it's "legal" is used to argue that any scumbag behaviour is therefore by extension "acceptable". And when that line of utter horseshit reasoning gets shoveled off, we're treated to a bunch of "blame the victim" malarky in its stead. I don't care that it's just a game. There's something truly rotten inside the person who gravitates towards that playstyle, something that if they aren't ashamed of, they should be. (As should those who justify it.) Also the argument that scamming is "era accurate" is nothing of an argument at all. "Era accuracy" only dictates the mechanics and rules of the game. That's like saying that because some players behaved like psychopath douchewads in the era, we're all obligated to follow suit today. It's just *dumb*. I full agree with this...Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean its the right thing to do, but you gotta also figure, most of these guys would be out raping women and killing people if they wouldn't get in trouble for it. It's the type of person that UO brings, the people that have nicer tendencies are on other games such as WoW or on server's that are roleplaying or trammellized. It's just the way it is and probably why the population is down to 200, but let them play how they want, soon enough there will be noone left to scam except each other, then they will realize they are either done with UO and wanted to ruin it for everyone else before they quit anyway or that maybe they should have helped the next guy instead of scamming him and they would still be playing.

back to topic i met vega when i first came back after a 1 yr hiatus and he "scammed" / my stupidity me of 4 silver. big deal it was my fault, who wouldn't take advantage of the situation? now i've talked to/hung out with vega since and he's helped me acquire more than that original 4 silver cost me, bush it off, suck it up... if you can't do that than UO isn't for you. would the original player playing for 4-6months before realizing this matter? no... he was bound to quit eventually... if anything this saved him time.

If you acquired 240 K you should no longer be considered new. Vega is already red flagged to attack on sight by many. I just wanted to make these two points. There are tons of people already to avenge your comrade even before this post, the real question is how long are you keeping people inside the NEW status?

Problem with starter guilds is some of their guildmates feel the need to OVER emphasize their "helpfullness" and hand over a quarter million gold to a 6 day old account. Instead of making new players earn their keep and get a feel of how hellish but rewarding the shard can be, they put in a game genie cheat code right off the bat for near infinite resources and then get murked by the boss at the end of the level from lack of knowledge.

Zeus is new, very new and he had worked hard for the silver he lost. I spoke with zeus and I hope he will tomorrrow think different about quitting. Having said that: our server is great, I do miss player justice tho.

Anyway, I laugh so hard when people let their pixel rage get the best of them and make assumptions like "Oh this guy rapes and murders people in real life...obviously" because they got ganked or trusted the wrong person or whatever. These things are within the realm of this game's mechanics. This game is profoundly unique in that aspect. Get revenge or move on.
