I'd also be happy to pay a "joining fee" of about 5-20k for any "free-use" events, effectively this could act as the shards first and only gold sink (IDOC's don't count... players since 2008 have been refreshing houses). Otherwise it's not like bringing your own regs/pots to events is incredibly difficult, the economy here is so inflated that anyone can make millions in a few weeks.

The thing I liked about the automated events was that with a schedule you knew when an event would start, for most people that have jobs/friends/family and live in the non-master-race-timezone it is incredibly hard to attend player run events due to the fluctuating start times and the fact they're usually held at peak hours for US players.
It was great knowing that one or two days in the week I could get home after work and take part of a large event, I understand that a large amount of players hated the fact that events had fixed times due to how some players only logged in during events (To quote Lelouche: "1v1 Tournament is Scheduled to begin in 15 minutes" "Sandro has logged in"), but honestly I'd rather have people playing a little over not at all.

It also added a lot of variety, as the period before/after events was usually packed with PvP action around the graveyard, it was a great learning experience as those were some of the first field experiences I had on UOSA. Considering nowadays any time I go to the graveyard for more than two minutes, a pack of 12 year olds with raging e-peens and precasted flamestrikes try to come down on me harder than pak's dad comes down on him after a few beers.

The trammel aspect is the only thing that bugs me, unfortunately without it the events become a contest of "who has the most friends with precasted flamestrikes" which has little to no skill involved.

I know they'll never come back; but I still love the nostalgia. This shard will never be what it once was, but it's always nice to reminisce.

Omg, I agree with Some and because I love this post so much Im going to rep him.
Someone call Kaivan and ask him if hell froze over.

Events are about the only thing that'd give me ambition to play again. Pvp is dead, competition is extremely weak. Until then my desktop will sit back in Wisconsin and I'll continue my couple of times a week lag around with no mouse for 5min til I get bored adventures. I do miss my UOSA nignogs tho...

P.s. hi soma you slut <3

The people against events cant bring up any real reason, only talk about the people who want them crying. They just don't understand the value something like this gives as an incentive to play UO. NEA is ridic because OSI held events as STAFF.

Boomland: GM ran events are quick, organized and documented. The ranking system and the shortness and ruleset are why people enjoy them. Non GM run events suck- all of them. They get griefed, are small, unorganized, and take forever because of this.

It doesn't take a someone with monkey intelligence to understand why this would HELP the server. Its ridic to think otherwise, and those who do are just ignorant. I would agree that back in the day- the PVPers were a small but vocal group, but now- they are the majority (SMALL because pop is down so much) the rest of the shard are new, and probably wont last. Serisouly, I look at the "online now" and 50% of them are TG macroing off counts, and alts of decent pvpers. the other 50 are either PVM chars of these PVPers, or complete new chars, with a small percentage as chars who care less about pvp. Sad but true.

Something so heartwarming about hearing the truth.

"To quote Lelouche: "1v1 Tournament is Scheduled to begin in 15 minutes" "Sandro has logged in"), but honestly I'd rather have people playing a little over not at all. "
they aren't playing at all or real members of this community if only logging in just to exist in trammel events, was the point in that statement. the fact numbers revolved around the automated event schedule is sicking as towards the end of events it was what a big chunk peoples play schedules revolved around. all you pansys wont log in without are events Well hats of to you then peace you won't be missed. You complain and want it content handed to you automatically a silver platter on a schedule. Go out and make content happen, i did this for months in the field and created alot of fun pvp via grief , fielding etc among other things. you all complain you want bigger community and put events up on the pedastal as the magic fix when you can't be fucked to log in and create your own pvp tourneys / fights etc. Event gates have opened - the field empties out - was the saddest shit ever and i know tg will back me up on this as they used still be one of the few in the field during events . if they weren't spectating the trammel events. im glad automated events were abused in ways that got them wiped of the face of the shard finally (which is why i spoke up about all the crap you guys were abusing and what was broken )

He seems to be both arguing that certain people only played for events, and somehow harmed the server by farming silver at them ... which would seem to imply they didn't just play events (who would care otherwise, really?) ... which then invalidate his first point.

Basically comes down to NEA but that sounds too whiny. But it does deflect from the argument about population decline by trying to say they 'only' played events, thus no loss, even though his own logic implies the opposite.
