It's hard to know what to expect from people who are still interested in this game, and it'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few months.
I do know this much: Fewer and fewer people are looking for accuracy for its own sake.
I know that personally I'm looking for a game that is familiar to me, and that I enjoy playing. The way the PvP community/mechanics are on UOSA aren't for me, but maybe they will be on the new IPY or the new Divinity. That remains to be seen.
I don't think I'm alone in this, and no amount of Faustian commentary will change the issue.

Like many others, I played Ultima Online since December 1997 upon release.
I will not be one of these people who conforms to the "Div" style PvP just because its fun. I'm not saying that it can't be fun.
But it will never last in the hearts of someone who TRULY appreciated every aspect of this game for what it was..
And those are the types of people I want to play with.
Not the menial "I own you duel me kthx" idiotic players that those servers will have.

well name calling is not helping and faust keeps getting out of the subject with his era accuracy thing which is not the point of this thread
UOSA has a good playerbase because everything is nicely balanced to a certain extent which is what people want and it makes the game fun. There is 1 thing that is no good and its the pvp, when its fixed maybe it will become fun. lets hope. then hopefully the pvp guilds will start coming in and it will increase the population.
If ipy/div whatever shard had been able to balance things out like UOSA, then their population would not of dropped like it did. So what makes UOSA so balanced and nice to play? Well every change they make is based off of the original code or so, which was made by a company that was trying to make a good game, to make money. whats my point with this is that The human ressources azaroth, ryan or whoever ran a shard had was minimal compared to origin/EA and on their own, without lots and lots of work it was impossible to balance everything.
IPY/div had great pvp mechanics, and I must not be the only one thinking that since there is literally no one to fight. If the pvp was good, all the big guilds would be playing here like they used to do on ipy, div, trepidus, uo:redemption etc.
uosa mechanics for everything + more ipy/div pvp style = win for everyone
Oh and IPY's biggest mistake was the no stat-loss, driving all the non-pvp people out.

After completing my character I was underwhelmed, and it is a shame because UOSA is great in other areas.

There may be fewer 'pvpers' or 'uo quakers' looking for accuracy but that is quite the contrary when it comes to the real players of the game. Real UO players rather it's pre-t2a, t2a, uor, or even aos want the era to be the same way it was or at least even resemble a lot of it.
I'm sorry that you can't accept or handle(whichever it may be) the real version of the game when it comes to pvp. The original game just isn't for everyone and they need something else.
Good luck putting your faith into past failures though...

I would have given more credit to those shards if they actually used the real mechanics and tweaked them in order to balance it out to the best of their ability... However, their code resembles very little if any of the original code that OSI used making it a complete joke in my eyes... If those shards actually wanted to succeed they would listen to people that actually know about this stuff but instead put their faith in the current poorly designed mechanics of RunUO that resemble none of the real mechanics of the game...

Faust, despite posting 50+ times in this thread, you've never answered the original prompt:
Do you enjoy the PvP mechanics here?
If no, why not?

Yes and no, depending on what mechanics you are wanting to know about here.
- Spell damage and interruption is perfect.
- Spell delays are perfect(still not positive about the actual recast delay).
- Weapon stats are perfect.
- The swing timer is not accurate at the moment and waiting on it to be fixed until pvping right now.
What are you wanting to know exactly?

It's an open ended question, I'm just interested in whatever comes to mind when you read the question.
It's pretty straightforward. Do you like PvPing on this server?

There's a lot of talk about things being "too random" and "inconsistent" here.
That's hogwash.
The only people who say things like that are people who don't understand statistics and probability. And people who get smoked a couple times in fights and need some way to justify to themselves and others why/how they lost.
The weapon and spell damages are EXACTLY what they were, in terms of range and frequency, average and variance, in 1999. That's objectively a fact. Subjectively, to me, they don't seem that random either. When you're rolling 6 dice for an energy bolt, you're going to have damages that are pretty tightly clustered and pretty predictable. The kryss is the most random weapon, I think, but even that is pretty well mitigated if you're using magics, because you're adding a constant like 7 or 9 to every roll. 1 to 15 is a lot more random than 10 to 24.
As for spell timers, delays, etc., I'm not that discerning, but it does feel correct and accurate to me.

You said a bunch of specific mechanics were "perfect". I asked if you personally enjoy PvPing on this server, which is the topic of the thread.

I don't enjoy it right now and have stated that many times.. waiting on a few accurate changes to take place to fix that though. I would be pvping every single day for the past few months if this was the case. This obviously isn't the case since I opted out of a good majority of the pvp here shortly before getting my new computer when some major finds was found for the swing timer.
I did very much enjoy the pvp in '99, and thought that it took a good amount of skill.
We will see how the pvp turns out when it's fixed and see how much of it resembles this time period...

Neglecting the facts like Pro and you both have is something.
Glad his complaints did a 180 when he actually seen the data.
Learning from others, typically is a good thing in some cases marm.
