you're right, its not PERFECT, but it is possible to get all three to do damage within .5-1 second of eachother. and im sure all at once, eventually, simple because you can equip while casting.

when the changes were still up, i had no problem running by my target and getting a swing without stopping.

...
All three hit very close together if timed right, but I don't remember equipping before the target cursor for the ebolt came up.

I believe you have to tab out to "keep" your hit. Then when you get next to them and attack last, you will immediately hit. But I think the insta-hit needs to be really insta. Not where they can move away OR where it won't hit instantly cause of equip delay? I am not sure if that existed lol.

I wish they would put the changes in so I can test this out more.

yea im aware of having to tab to keep your hit. but regardless, this plan can easily be foiled

1. opponent attacklasts, you lose your swing
2. you run next to your opponent and hit attacklast, your opponent shifts tiles before the next tick, you dont swing
3. you would have to be completely certain you had 1 tick left until your swing, before tabbing back in, or your opponent just shifts tiles and you lose your swing

it's so complicated, lets be honest, t2a didn't require an astrophysics degree and incredible twitch timing just to get your hally to swing on an exp/eb/hally combo

Yea I needed to test it more, I didn't even get a chance to fight a player yet...

equip casting was used most of the time when fastcasting a spell, youd equip the hally while the animation was still going but you already had the cursor up

i've been trying to search old usenet groups for mention of using hally/dagger to disturb your own casting, but i'm not totally sure how to search them. it's too bad all the old stratics posts got deleted too.

Edit:

I thought he was agreeing we should have it.

yea you've never been able to equip a weapon while casting, it would interupt your spell.

did anyone else try out novus opiate back in '99? the biggest thing that struck me there was being able to equip during casting. i remember seeing screenshots from that shard with people casting with hallys in their hands and thinking wtf. this was during era too.

edit: not entirely sure it was novus opiate im thinking of, the website says it came out in 2003 but there was definitely some POL or sphere shard back then where this was the case.

I am not sure if you could equip the hally that early, but I for sure remember equip-casting being in to an extent. Maybe it was more towards the end of a spell that you could have your hally in hand BEFORE the cursor!

But it doesn't change too much because you can't move when casting anyway. It's not overpowered, it helps mages not be overcome by the object delay so much.

I think equip casting is important and should stay in since we have evidence it existed. We can tweak it later if needed, but it must be in or mage pvp is going to be hurting if other stuff is kept in which it will(object delay, the new mage tab/held hit/cycling changes ect.)

We need all accurate pvp mechanics in to replicate the feel of 1999 pvp. If 1 thing is missing that is the reason for the "sudden death" things we create to compensate for it.

I was refering to Rose I think who said she'd do it.

You could do it towards the end but it was at the same time the cursor came up or after. You didnt read my post wrong

and novus opiate was no way accurate. it was hella fun but a completely different system

Well, as Derrick has also pointed out, there is nothing that even hints that equipping while casting would interrupt in the era and quite a bit that says you could.

Attack last and tabbing are no longer a factor, there will be no more "lost swings" since every time you equip you have to do a full swing cycle before being able to swing anyways.

yeah that is what i am saying. novus was totally different and screenshots of equip casting confused me during era, since i didn't realise at first they could just code the game however they wanted.

and hemp, the implementation on test you would lose your swing if you were not next to your opponent when your swing cycle finished. the equip delay is not what people are talking about. tabbing out allowed you to pause your swing timer at whatever point so you wouldn't waste your swing.
