OP, its people like you that are responsible for the world becoming a gigantic nanny state, where no one is allowed to voice their opinion without being punished. I am not racist or sexist or anything, but if someone wants to be ignorant and say the "n word", that's their right as an individual. Likewise, if a black man called me whitey or cracker, I would be offended, but I would respect his right to say whatever he wants.

Also, if GMs somehow tried to censor text in-game or in IRC, it opens up a GIGANTIC can of worms for them to deal with. Give the GMs a break and stop being such a sissy. I find it hilarious that someone with the name "Bong Hit" complains about racist language..what if someone else is offended by drugs or marijuana? Should you have to change your nickname because of that?

At the same time you said we are supposed to be able to voice our opinion you just told people they shouldn't voice their opinion about you voicing your opinions. Opinions and name calling are not the same. No matter how you try to justify it.

PS: To another post, I would rather be a bleeding heart than a cold hearted monster. Everyone is always going on about how they wanna change the world.....but at the first signs of change they complain about it being against some 200 year old ruleset written by people with slaves.

A better closing note would I think be that failure to forcibly prohibit something doesn't grant an endorsement of it.

This is a MMORPG and to make sure everybody plays nice with each other Derrick would have to completely re-write this shard to make a land in which no one can do anything bad to anyone else. Wait, that was done already, yup I believe it was called Trammel and it killed UO. So I guess if everyone wants to make a perfect little world that caters to "playing nice" with one another then let's have a "bring back Trammel" poll.

I don't like the immature assholes running around this shard any more than I enjoy hearing their weak-ass attempts at trash talk and griefing, but to censor them would open up a pandora's box of issues as far as where do you draw the line with censorship on this shard?

Tbh...i was just joining in on the conversation. While it's taboo for anyone in my family to use racial slurs, i really don't care either way on the internet. People on the internet are just nasty and it will never be changed until china finally plays it's final card in the secret takeover of America.

I live in the South and I put up with alot of racial slurs daily from ignorant rednecks....the best i can do is friendly methods of slowly fixing them. You can't confront people like that , so the best method is to get them to like you and then alter their perception.
