Re: New guild! Please take the time to read

1.)Do you have a problem with limiting how long "newbie" status can be applied to your members? Only being able to remain in the guild for a period of time?

2.)Do you think it is fair to let these new characters hunt high end spawn in 100 percent safety from other players 24/7?

If you answered yes to either question...no way...unless they are children or have handicaps....in that case why didnt you say so?

The best advice I ever got back in 1998 when I began playing was from a random stranger, who sensing I was new told me (and explained how) to bind F1 to "hiding" and as I'm running around exploring the world, stick a quarter in it to hold it down. I agree that in 2011, hiding isn't the skill it used to be, as it's now pretty common for player predators to have the tracking skill; but it was priceless advice at the time.

Archaic,

I asked for your character names to get gather information on the credibility of your criticism. So the fact you have thieves as your main characters, you are not really relevant or pose great threat to the members of the guild. Nor did you contribute any funds or resources to really give yourself any leverage to how the guild should operate.

Panther,

I am not an administrator of the shard. So I can't really grant young status on anyone. If you read the larger post I made in this thread, you would see where I was going with this guild. You, just like Mr. Archaic, have not contributed anything to the guild as well, hence not giving you any leverage in your text.

With all that in mind you two, I have not completely neglected your post. As I think either Matron or Marm said, "Some people may attack these individuals, some may not." Obviously that is expected, but if I could go so far as to stop 20% of the pks to not kill them, then so be it. That is a success in itself for a guild that just started, and hasn't gained notoriety like K^A.

I will take blame not mentioning the cut-off of the guild tag, "new member." The primary idea was to give an individual suffice time to get a nice start to the shard. Whether this would be 400 total skill points or 1 week of macroing in a house. Depending on the knowledge and background of the individual, obviously some may require more or less time than others.

Finally, to end the discussion with you both, I can't take either of you the least bit serious at all.
When I see post about Archaic claiming to kill someone with voodoo weird shit, viewtopic.php?f=26&t=25104&start=60

In regards to you Panther, I will let you dig your own grave by just expecting you to be yourself.

Needless to say, Archaic is a thief, and Panther is just bad at pvp. The guild members can probably take you both on, so I am not worried about anything.

You 2 can continue to post here, I will let you know now, I am not going to really look at them. I can see this going to the trash forum pretty quickly.

Derrick,

I appreciate any advice coming from an administrator. However, my intentions of getting people on the shard are no longer in existence. My schedule has consumed any chance of it happening.

In regards to your post, K^A is a notorized and well structured guild to help members only interested in gathering advice. My idea of helping new people was to give them a place to macro, and a reduced chance of getting pk'd by simply relying on the good nature the people who play this shard possess. The return was to have a more highly populated shard.

Obviously, it's only rational to leave a shard if you can't really get started. Unless you are irrational, usually people value their time way more than to get griefed at a solid rate.

But as I just stated before, I am disbanding the guild unless someone is interested in taking it over. I can't liquidate to many of the assets, I think the right thing to do is to give them back to the contributors. However, if someone does buy this guild, and can really kick this thing off, I will contribute 400k.

What say you Panthor, kill these guys on sight?
You lack diplomacy, and understanding of the rules of this game.
Bring the sheep to the slaughter.

I didn't get my buttwashed by some vet everytime I decided to sit down to hunt some area when I started to only have PKs recall in and chit chat and explain he is waiting for someone else to kill because I was too new

Now you admit its all about recruiting and the "New Member" guild title will be removed but the guild tag itself will not.

There we go. It's a power move to push for a guild made of new players by promising them "tweets" and added protection because you made everyone think that everyone in the guild are poor helpless newbs... and you got caught making it.

If you would have said you would remove these players when they are no longer new then indeed it would be a not for profit guild. But power is the motivation here.

Is this how you convince people not to PK your gold hoarding newbies? By admitting to your lust for power? So now there is a difference between a VPT newb and a VPT regular, let me guess the newbs are bards and the regs are your pvp

How about all you other guilds...do you have any newbs that you dont want Pked?

Well clearly this guild will succeed since you're so reasonable and never resort to name calling or trash talking in serious threads...

I don't think we've fought many times, Fede. Only time I remember is that 2v2 ctf where you and flea lost to mjark and I.

Who's terrible at pvp?

UOSA,

I donated 60k and 2 small house deeds to K^A. Their guild is a bigger player in helping new comers to the shard.

I am deleting the short lived stone of VPT. I thank everyone who participated, or tried to participate. I appreciate the useful criticism and pointers that people posted. And I really hope the people who went through the process enjoyed it:)

Anyone who needs help starting out on this shard, I direct you to K^A.

7 days of help?

new players dont need handouts and complicated protection plans. they just need friends to play with. if you want to help them just talk to them and go hunt with them.

its not very complicated really.

This is exactly what I was getting at but had poor communication skills.
You want to be with them on the field not exempt them from it. You take out a whole lot of fun missing out on all the action. Then expecting everyone to ignore them and let them have a little haven amidst all the chaos happening was just not going to happen. There is a test center.

I totally agree with Malice on this. Going on a hunt with a new player, will get them the gold they need so that they can buy themselves mounts, weapons, spellbooks, whatever. Also hunting with a vetern will decrease their chance of dying a lot, as sometimes experience is what matters more.

I would like to begin with a pm from the King of Ascalon.

Title is Donation.

"12k Sulfur Ash
6k Mandrake Root
6k Spider Silk
25k Bandages

Newbie Bags Will Consist Of
2k Sulfur.
1k Root.
1k Silk.
4k Bandages

They will be taught to macro weapon skills on Paladins Etc and use the bandages to heal their mages to macro etc. i will keep you updated on who gets these resources

and thank you for your contribution."

Thank you for the PM King. Bandaids were a popular resource when I was helping people. So I am glad you spent the money wisely:)

Second,

Their was no scamming going on. I would expect all of you to know that if their was, this thread would have blown up pretty quickly with people who donated, stating they were scammed. Only people who donated were obviously me, Vader, Telamon, and Plaque. Telamon's spellbooks were distributed very quickly to the right people. Vader got his boat back, and kept his home. Plaque kept his home. Simple, at least I think so.

If you continue to state that individuals were scammed with no evidence to support such a statement. Then then the next statement applies to you. You are stupid.

Thank you and that is it. I am changing the post name that better portrays this thread.
