I don't think they did. This publish was a month before they released UO:R with obvious changes meant for the Rennaisance 'expansion' (ie. lumberjacking raising when fighting with an axe). I'd hardly say that murder counts from NPC Shopkeepers is era accurate since we had about a year and a half without them and only a month with them. But I would argue that the shopkeepers need the sexy colored sandals and not the evil mages. ;)

ps. I chuckle every time I see your name because the company I work for is called ZIM.

a quick look at the trade forum will probably answer this.

Jewelers still do not spawn with black shoes or sandals, only regular shoes. I believe they should spawn always with black shoes and a very low percent chance for black sandals. Female only.

Also, sculptors occasionally had colored sandals, but were mostly barefoot. Artists spawned in quite a few other places than they do now. One for sure place Artists and Sculptors spawned was East of Moonglow in the Artist's guild.

I am pretty sure black sandals are no longer spawning. Why is this the case?

This. Would love a staff response to it. Either the spawn rate has been lowered significantly, or they dont spawn. Either way this is not accurate, search google.groups, there are numerous threads relating to sandals, female jewellers always had black footware, not always sandals but always black in colour. And where are the bride escorts with silvers gone? [On an unrelated note it would appear that vendors were static on OSI in era, "Georgina the jeweller" would always be "Georgina the jeweller" and would respawn the same npc in name and trade but different attire.]

I suspect the spawns been stoped so you have to trade in silver to obtain them, another case of "picking and choosing" and use of an "in accurate mechanic", something I thought would never, ever happen here. Sorry too staff if this is not the case but it certainly looks that way to me.

Hi there

BS spawned on PAP Jewelers back in the days i can confirm this, farming them ;)

*Edited* They still spawn on them but that NPC's are invulv now (yellow) - i just made a screenshot*

BlueSandals spawned on Evil Mages

Silver on Brides

Many other colors spawned on the Artists inb Moonglow - my thieve was remodeld in a musician who was able to LURE them out of guard zone and than just FS them.

*Edited* greenish and brownish/redish still spawn on artists in moonglow, they can be killed since they are still blue, not sure if the sandals will be lootable - not tried out yet (will get guard wacked since they dont walk out of gc now..)*

I kept some of this sandals, pls find enclosed a pic..

Have a good one!
Joe

P.S. I am on Pacific btw..

Sandals like blacks should be spawning on weavers in tailor shops And brides should have silver sandals. That's certainly accurate and I farmed 3-4 pairs before GMs started suspending/banning people for using "exploits" to kill the NPCs without having guards called.

Trammel currency like silver shouldn't be the only way to obtain 1999 era sandal hues.

And the dark robed(all shades) evil mages are supposed to have blue sandals, that's already accurate.

Does anyone know if the Green Sandals were ever added in on the Alchemists?
I know that was where they used to spawn, though finding proof of that anymore is pretty hard to do.

NPC Mages have them. Or the Evil Mage in Hidden Valley. Plenty of blue sandals to be had.

Hey all I'm new here to T2A but i like it already especially the dedication I see to when this game was great! I wanted to post a tid bit about this topic as i see some information is incomplete, but before I do a little background on myself
I have been playing since 2 months after release of UO in Nov 97, my father was a beta tester player and then a counsleor. The actual history of black sandals is correct as I saw in one post the hex decimal color coding was accidently incorrect, and when discovered was not fixed due to the idea of being rare items for players to obtain in order to stimulate the market outside of dungeon raiding and crafting. There were never any other clothing items that had this issue but there was one other item, a dye tub in Deceit dungeon was also accidently mis-color coded. The actual vendors these sandals did spawn on was weavers and jewelers being as they have the same loot table scripts and it was a 2% chance for them to spawn. The tub that was mis-coded and ended up being black was on a daily spawn but when discovered was changed to a monthly spawn. In december of 97 many of you may remember you could get coal ore this could be crafted into black dye tubs until they were eventually set as a veteran reward. The silver sandles were on brides but were at a much higher spawn rate % although I never asked exactly what this % was due to them being more common I did not investigate them. There was also the artist and cobbler who also had a chance at the rare red or *daemon bone* sandals this rate was also at 2%. Hope this info helps and sorry for it not being presented until now but I only just found your server tonight by sheer accident and thought I would give it a try.

P.S. on a side note these were never a in game spawn item but the only way to obtain true black leather gloves was from stealing them from santas corpse also in Dec of 97, for some reason all of his items were blessed except his gloves by mistake or on purpose I do not know but they were the only item on his corpse and due to their color were hard to even see in the corpse window by the rare few who did actually kill santa, again not a spawn but a little trivial knowledge about true black items pre uo:r =)
