We will be crafting rules in the near future that will define what both a seller and a buyer can do when posting auctions and sale threads (and posting in them) on the forums.
Oh good God thank you!
For once, Vega and I can agree.
Don't get used to it, guy.

I placed this bid 4 minutes before the proposed deadline yet Kaivan you are rewarding stonewilled's previous bid before this one?

There is no relevant end time stated in the original post, which has been edited 12 times. Thus, the only evidence that I can go on from this thread is his statement which ended the auction at 8:15. We cannot be expected to play detective, and try to reconstruct what the original post was or was not at any given time. Expect our rules, or the forum behavior, to address this.

This is why I quote people on their original posts that I have zero trust for.

A quote can't be trusted either, since the quoted material can be changed at will. Only an unedited post can be trusted.

I'm sorry that things panned out this way, but if nothing else, this shows the need for concrete rules.

You don't HAVE to play detective, there's at 2 or 3 people that have stated, with upstanding reputations that incognito had the winning bid...
Also, you can't police 1 thread and not the other 100 that have went on in the past few months or you are singling out one person. The only way to go about this, is to start fresh, with a post, telling ALL players about the rules, what will be enforced, what they can and can't do and THEN enforce it. You can't go in the middle of a auction and set/change rules, especially when WE know what the endtime was...
Well...you CAN, but not without pissing alot of people off in the process.

I think rules should be set before you enforce them?

Actually, I do have to go off of the evidence. If every player on UOSA contacted me and said that they saw the unedited post state that the auction ended at 9 PM, that wouldn't change the fact that it's hearsay, and not actual evidence.
As for policing auctions, we cannot be expected to police every auction thread and investigate each auction in detail. If a player has a grievance, they can contact us about the auction, and we will take it up when time allows.
Once the rules are in place, if a player has a grievance, we will have a set of concrete rules to hold them to as well.

So MortiKi does or doesn't have to sell to Stonewilled here?

I'm sure every UOSA player would agree with this statement except for maybe stonewilled.

This was a specific judgement based off of the available evidence in this thread, not a full set of concrete rules. Although, much of what has been said here, such as the idea that an auction where the seller can do whatever they want is patently absurd will be codified in some way within the rules.
