I think at this point anyone still bidding should verify they have the gold in their accounts so the bidders know they aren't just bidding each other up with no intention in buying. All high end auctions should go this way, but alas, there will be fake bidders til the end.

but ya, how many auctions have you bid on and you get outbid and then the seller comes back to you and says "so and so backed out, do you still want the item"? and had that person not been in to bid you woulda spent 50% of what you did haha there is alot of ppl that bid just for fun with no intention of ever buying, everyone knows this.
