I am an advocate for era accuracy...
The goal of this shard is to re-create the t2a era. This statement is clearly on the front page of the web site for everyone to read. Without the both of these features this shard does not re-create era accuracy. By caving into something like this leaves the possibility of where exactly does that stop... leading to more discrepencies for the shard. There are plenty of inaccurate shards out there that exists. This is what clearly makes this shard different than those shards, and in my opinion the reason it strives in success unlike those other dead and dying shards.

Infinite Horse Stamina was a feature that was Era Accurate, Faust?
And if we are going for just utterly era accurate without even giving a thought to reason, then I want my One Hit Kill Heavy Crossbow, and I want double hally hits.
I also want everyone's client to crash when I cast the Earthquake spell.
Oh yeah? And Why not? I mean, if we change things that were Era Accurate, then when does it stop? If we change these things, then what else is going to change to not make the shard era accurate?
I also want 200ms ping and my horse ride to be choppy and crappy, because this was Era Accurate. Era being 1998-99 when internet for the majority of ppl sucked.

There were cable connections during '99... Again, most decent pvper's used UOE with fast walk allowing them to run at 0 ping. Only those that didn't had crappy choppy running effects.

Weapon timers not resetting while you are moving is something that HURT THE GAME and hence why it was Fixed.
Nevermind, this place is as assbackwards as every other shard out there and there never will be a decent one until I run it. Everyone else is just shit tarded.
People who run these shards are all on one side of the spectrum or the other:
1) THE SHARD IS ERA ACCURATE AND THEREFORE WE WILL NOT MAKE IT FUN AND BALANCED, WE WILL JUST MAKE IT HOW IT WAS.

2) THE SHARD IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN MORE THAN ANYTHING AND PLAYERS WANT NEON BEETLES AND MORE NEON STUFF BRINGS MORE PLAYERS.
IPY was so great because it struck the perfect balance. It was T2A like enough for players to feel at home, but it also fixed all the shitty stuff like Weapon Timers not resetting to ensure that the gameplay experience was fun and pretty well balanced.
This is just ridiculous, and I want the hours I spent farming and building my character back. I can't believe you people are actually defending that weapon timer thing. Horrible.
Nevermind, this place is as assbackwards as every other shard out there and there never will be a decent one until I run it. Everyone else is just shit tarded.

Did you ever stop and think that your ideology about weapon timers is assbackwards? The combat/swings timers has been this way since the RELEASE of Ultima Online, and timers elapsing on a constant basis is a product of the UOR era. The era that closed the door on the coffin for Ultima Online.

I agree. This has a completely negative impact on enjoyment of the game and to me making it so you can never kill someone who runs away while chugging is a complete and total turnoff to any type of pvp. You can sit there and quote stratics and patch notes but it just doesn't feel right to me and even worse, it doesn't feel fun. Also, UOE Fastwalk was not the cureall people seem to think it was. Yes, you could run faster but in reality it just made the dialup users not get run down by a dude on foot when they were at full gallop (yes it was that bad). I was one of the lucky ones with a cable connection here in Austin and I remember pinging around 10-20 to Test Center (no shit) where I was absolutely *God* because of it. UOE helped high pingers but it was nowhere NEAR the almost zero ping play I experienced.
I view this weapon swing change as a completely COMPLETELY negative change to the shard. What does it actually bring us? Closer to complete accuracy, sure but at what cost? I assume the people supporting this are duelers only etc because chasing down someone under this system is a completely futile effort unless they are some high ping fuck from the UK. Its not like we are asking for no mounts or *gasp* guaranteed interrupts. We want to be able to finish a fucking fight!

I want to know why it is part of this great T2A accuracy experience.
Then I want you to post a video of you rocking someone's ass with these mechanics, post a video extolling the greatness of weapon timers not resetting unless you are fully stopped.
Here is what i think: This shard only LOOKS somewhat succesful because a huge amount of newbies are here, and they don't even know what's going on with weapon swing timers and etc. I have farmed a good amount and i hardly ever see PKs. I hardly ever see Order Chaos battles.
This shard is mostly a)newbies or b) would-be pvpers who simply have no idea that they are building their characters up only to discover one day that you have to stop so you can swing your weapon.

Good point Cletus, I bet that's exactly what it is. You guys probably don't even field pvp. You probly just sit around dueling eachother in dungeons or at your houses.

This is an "era accuracy" that harms the enjoyment and pvp of the server. IMO its the same as adding "prepatch vanqs" ala OSI to the server. I mean, FUCK. Getting one shot by some hiding hvy xbow douche would be better than this.

Since I am a staff member, I cannot play the server, and I have no bias towards one side or the other.
Regardless of that fact, the change to swing timers was a balance change (not a bug fix), and was also out of era. Given those two facts, for us to make the same balance change that was made on OSI as a part of UOR would not sit within the realm of T2A accuracy under any circumstances.
Also, on a final note, instant kill weapons were pre-T2A (pre 2/12/98 to be exact). They were not a product of T2A.
