Double hits occurr too often and easily
Re: Double hits occurr too often and easily
So then, was the concept of double hit pushed through on the basis of faulty information?
Or is there something deeper at work?

Yea Your totally right nightshark I agree fully and completely.
But on the other hand, noone can say they did not exist on nov 99'
@ Faustus, I doubt it. It's more like Derrick used some reganents from different area's and they came together to create the spell that is the new combat system. The double hally hit is more likely a side effect of casting the spell. But I cannot really say for sure.

tbh I'm totally bias cause i friggin hate double hits. i don't mind them the way mages use them, but when there's a razor macro that can abuse the timer and be 100% effective, never disruptable, that's when it starts being game breaking. that and the horrible dexer double hits ;/RoseRIP wrote:Yea Your totally right nightshark I agree fully and completely.

Sounds like you were a victim nightshark, hehehe. Your right tho that is no good.
I am for double hits myself, but I do believe there are some issues with it that need to be hashed out (and I think are currently working on that)

I am glad you agree with nightshark (and me by proxy) rose. I don't believe that "You cannot prove that <something> did not work this way..." was ever a reputable argument for era accuracy judging by this shards history however. Naturally, nobody here can disprove that during the T2A era, all characters named "Matron de Winter" received a 150 cap to the wrestling/stealing skills. This still does not make it true though.

No shit.
Good thing in this "double hit" instance we have many people coming from different angles reporting the same occurrence, although the mechanics behind it are slightly unclear, at least the idea is the same.
You could try to argue for era accurate SuperDeWinter's but I'm betting you will be the only person who is trying to hold up said argument.
Dont be ridiculous, please read between the lines.

No need, it's quite clear. You changed your stance to at least include the possibility that double hit was not in our time period, I am satisfied with that.RoseRIP wrote: Dont be ridiculous, please read between the lines.

O rly?MatronDeWinter wrote:No need, it's quite clear. You changed your stance to at least include the possibility that double hit was not in our time period, I am satisfied with that.
nightshark wrote:Matron has a serious point. Noone here can honestly say "double hits were in on nov 21, '99"
The usual process for something going into the shard is via patch notes, code from the demo, overwhelming evidence from usenet posts, stratics, etc. Double hit just bypassed everything..
Your satisfied with an illusion Matron... and sorry to say, it doesn't stop at this thread.Rose wrote:Yea Your totally right nightshark I agree fully and completely.

Yes RLY.
Owned? Yeah.RoseRIP wrote:I remember the dates I played OSI.
IT WAS BEFORE THE WHOLE Y2K THING.
Double weapon hits occurred and I did them frequently.
I was specifically trained by a vet to do this.
Its the strongest memory I have of OSI.
I quit shortly after the release of Trammel (May 2000)
In all my time playing OSI, never did I see a patch the corrected the double hits.
Matron there is no doubt about it Double hits are EA

Ummmmm......?
Are you insane? How does that in any way say that I agree that there was no possibility of no double hits during the target date?
BTW Y2K was in the year 2000 if you didn't know.

Right. So I said that in my time playing, I never saw a patch that got rid of the double hits.
And then I said, double hits are EA (that means Era Accurate).
You should probably stop posting about now.

Re: Double hits occurr too often and easily
Ok well this thread has definitely seen enough of me and you bickering Matron.
One final time for ya... During my OSI T2A experience I not only witnessed double hits first hand, but did them aswell. I played during the target date. Never in my time playing T2A did I see a patch that disabled the ability to execute double hits.
Although I do suspect that whenever that "spell book in hand" patch went in they killed the double hits along with it (it was a major major patch). But of that I am not entirely certain, as I was so mortified by the fact that you needed a spell book in your hand to cast I just up and quit. I don't think there was any time for me to try the double hit after that.
