2 things:

I believe fame/karma is scaled to the amount you already have vs the difficulty of monster you are trying to kill.

Also, I believe that in order for your new title to show, you must log out then log back in.

well i have no title and im killing liches so that should give fame or karma but its not showing a message stating that i gained fame or karma when the kill is made.. could it be because i'm provoking stuff onto it?

As long as you do some damage to the creature yourself, you should be rewarded fame/karma

Actually you have to land the killing blow to receive any fame or karma.

I had this issue as well, can't find the origial post though..
basically you need to get the kill shot to get the fame/karma
When you play with fire, there is a 50/50 chance something will go wrong, and nine times out of ten it does.

as far as i'm aware, provoking alone will not gain you any fame or karma. could be wrong though, perhaps someone who plays a bard could clarify this.

That's the correct answer.

Also you can just close and reopen your paperdoll to see any changes to the title.

So based on the data thus far in this thread, it would seem that you do not gain fame/karma whenever a creature provoked by you lands the killing blow. As a bard, you actually have to finish the creature yourself (i.e: with a silver axe) to receive the reward.

Correct. you actually have to deal the killing blow to gain fame/karma.
