the "Golden Fiddle"

Blackfoot, i finally got to stop by the museum since it's completion. I thought it was pretty awsome, congratulations on your work. I want to hear the story, if there is one anyway, about the Golden Fiddle on the roof. Most everything had a book placed by the item explaining its history and how it came to be in the museum but not the Fiddle. If there is a story behind the fiddle please share it.
Also, I had to search previous posts in order to find out where the museum is. I brought this up in a previous post and someone was nice enough to put a rune on their boat, but, that boat and rune are gone. So i put a rune to the Second Age Museum at the Vepser/Minoc Welcome Center . It is inside the Free Use Town Runebook. This way anyone interested can get there.
The Vesper/Minoc Welcome Center is on the north road in between Vesper and Minoc.

I didnt see any evidence that the net belonged to "Alex 21" or anything anywhere. Maybe you should log on and reclaim your net! Like i said i got a rune to the place at my place...go get that net & if you think of it...UNQUOTE ME it makes a long wall of Pix.

Aye, that net was originally Alexes from the Tillerman Tales contest in early 2008
I wish I could remember the story on the fiddle.

hah, I get a kick outa the historic aspect of the ownership lineage. I woulda thought it pretty neat if it said "This golden net was won by alex21 sept 08 for his contribution to blah blah blah contest for blah blah blah His entry is as follows...etc etc etc"
That being said maybe you should log an alex ghost on at the museum spamming" My net...Myyyyy neeeeeet"
Do the tillermen really tell tales here? And is Alex's entry one of em? How do you get him to talk? Ive heard they told tales. Page 18 of my Prima strategy guide(yes i have it and i still do reference it)states "If you charter a ship, have a conversation with the tillerman. He has some great stories, including one about a lass who braided fox tails into her hair(who was actually a character played by one of the games designers). Another story talks about a fellow who is sucked into a whirlpool, and whose hair turns white- an allusion to Edgar Allen Poe's Descent Into the Maelstrom."
And about my original query: "whats the deal with that fiddle"? Blackfoot was it given to you for help with a provo bug? Its prolly not that interesting a story but the fiddle caught my eye up on that roof and peaked my interest.

Admin cant remember the specifics of the origins of the fiddle other than that. Often 'golden' items where the prize for uncovering/bringing attention to bugs.
I believe Coffee got the item from an IDOC and then donated it to the museum when we first opened.

I had a shadow crate i got for finding a bug in lock downs.
Only thing i have left is my 20 charge rune book for finding a bug with rune books

I was very anxious to find more about the tillermans tales myself in the early days of the shard, never remembering it on UO myself in era.
Having absolutely no luck finding the tales on the web, we have the contest hoping for some short and sweet tales we could attach to the tiller man; however while we had some good entries, the tales were a little long, and couldn't fit the format of having the tillerman tell them very well.
Not long after it was discovered that the tillermans tales were taken out of game way pre-T2A; however, recently there was a site found that had an interview with OSI's original "fishing tales" engineer, and the tales were revealed in full, along with the mechanism of the engine. I'll see if I can find the link to that.
He says the tales were cut out for localization (intl language) issues. So I've been very back-burner planning to put them in eventually.
