UO Second Age

When I started playing 12 1/2 years ago, I was running Windows 95 on a Compaq Pentium 1 or 2 CPU with 128 megs of ram and was one of the few to have a superfast 128k ISDN connection with norton antivirus.

I now run a fairly recent 2.88ghz dell with 2gb of ram on cable, and lag more than I ever did playing 10+ years ago.


Isn't it funny how much memory we (or atleast me) eat up and slow down our computers trying to keep them fast by running anti virus, spyware, malware, porn ad software?

One of the best all-round multi template/different situation OSI pvpers I've known (MACO from Europa) had a PC running Windows 98 specifically for UO.

You're having that much lag because you're over protecting your system from things you shouldn't be getting in the first place.

I've never had a copy of norton anti-virus. I've used AVG once or twice on previous installs. I guess it's probably because I don't use limewire type programs, I don't browse porn all day, and I don't open up every e-mail attachment that's sent to me by people i've never met from places i've never even heard of.

If you learn how to use computers, you won't have problems like that.

Also, stop looking at porn all day.

You can also get viruses via javascript/adobe flash injections, and scripts from doing basic searches like finding drivers for an old PC.

Just because you pull out doesn't mean she can't get pregnant.

Unfortunately I work from home and spend 5-10 hours a day doing nothing but online research so it's tough to avoid everything. I could buy a diff computer just for UO I suppose, but I'm pretty sure I would feel stupid doing that =\


Also, I only look at asian porn, and everyone knows you cant get viruses from asians.
