13 runebooks, a total of 200 runes, all marked 1 tile away from the treasure chest. Simply recall in and dig, no need to move, no need to wander around wondering why your rune is off a few tiles, none of that "you're standing on the chest please move" bs, no need to use a public rune library.

61 gold (round trip) x 200 runs = 12,200 gold
13 runebooks at HIGH price = 8,000

Total COST 20,200 gold. Time it takes to do is a lot i guess, which is why I raised my starting price!

It takes me approx 3.5 hours to copy the entire set using two alternating mages. You're also forgetting that you have to gather those initial 200 runes, 400 of mandrake/black pearl/blood moss, and purchasing the runebooks, time which was in addition to my 3.5 hours of marking.

Not to mention there is a good 5-8% chance that while your marking your runes, spawn is usually standing on your recall spot or someone is in the process of doing a tmap, so you have to recall to the nearest spot and run there, using UOAM to find the chest and remark.

Even if the mats cost only 20,200 by your guesstimate, that leaves 29800 profit which equates to roughly 8500g per hour labor. 8500g per hour... I could make that in 10 min clearing titans. To complain that 50k is a lot for something this time consuming is a damn joke.

I've sold these sets for well over 120k in the past, considering this one was made while making a copy for someone else, I set this starting price at a low 50k.

i did one to test some time ago, it is only worth if you make a few at a time

only making one is such a pain...

I was building two books at the same time (one for friend, one to sell since I got asked by half a dozen people if I could make them one):

First mage opens a gate then meditates, second mage goes in, marks 2 runes, comes back, names runes/drop into runebook, then meditates. Repeat 199 times. Only downtime is when you're restocking runes/regs.

Averages out to about 14-16 minutes per book, and at 50k minimum thats only 3.8k per book.

I simply was describing the COST in which I used to come up with my number! If you read, I Do admit that i did not include a time to mark them . . but 8500 gold per hour is a decent price. If you make more in 10 min. clearing titans, well then friend, go clear some titans. I can make 15K per hour doing dungeons runs too, but it does not mean that I get to sell my potion kegs for 25K each becasue it took so long to make them!

The other point I am trying to make is there are several librarys that now have these sets, so the 120K was probably back when people needed to use stratics and uoam to find each location.

You are completely missing the point; to own your own treasure map rune library and not have to rely on visiting someone elses. Do you always recall to Roadkill everytime you need to gate to a dungeon, or do you just mark your own runes and recall from home?

I sold one a month or two ago for 125k, I'm pretty sure Roadkill/Dark's libraries were around then. You still need stratics to get the map number anyway.

Enough with the bullshit, only interested buyers from this point on. Will end the auction sooner if someone PMs with a decent offer.

Wow, anyone who has the staying power to make all 13 of these books will make a profit from me.

I understand just how agonizing making these is, and how few people can sit through making 200 different runes. The phrase excruciatingly tedious was made for this task.

Regardless of what the actual materials cost is, or exactly how long it takes, when I buy runebooks I'm paying someone for doing what I don't want to have to do myself.

What kills me is he tells us how easy it is to make these books, and how they are available everywhere, and how little we should expect to profit from making them................yet bizarrely, he is offering gold for someone else to make them for him rather than do this "easy" task himself.

Essentially, the position he takes is that your work is easy and worthless, and if he can use that position to beat you down to his price, he not only gets the pleasure of having played you, he gets what he wants for almost nothing.

This is called hypocrisy for personal gain....very instructive, as it comes up time after time both here and in real life.
