Wtf, attacked legally in town?

I was just in Shame and attacked by Incognito. I managed to recall out after I had enough mana, but someone finished me off in town. I called guards as they were doing para and expl, but the guards didn't come. How was I flagged? My only guess is that magic reflect had something to do with it. What's going on here? Bug?

Edit: I had a blade spirit out, but it didn't appear to be attacking them.

If the blade sprits even looks at anything that is blue it will flag you grey.

So then I get flagged without even the benefit of the blade spirit attacking who it targeted? This doesn't make sense.. Blade spirits attack anything, so why not just attack?

This is the downfall of using Blade Spirits and Energy Vortexes. If you create one, you are responsible for it's criminal actions if any. I didn't make this up, I only implemented it.

I'm fine with being flagged if my blade spirit attacks someone, but I don't understand why I get flagged just because someone comes on screen.

I'm still only guessing that this is what flagged you, but just like a player, a creature can agress a player and flag, then pick another target without attacking. Blade spirits are always looking for the strongest creature in the area, so he pay have changed his mind. And it doesn't have to be a person, your blade could have attacked your pet, an NPC, etc.

What did your blade spirit attack?

as far as I can tell, this was the order of events:
1) cast blade spirit
2) blade spirit attacks air elemental
3) blade spirit kills air elemental (Then sits)
4) incognito attacks me
5) recall to town
6) Jameson kills me
7) incognito appears and is blue, but jameson is flagged to me

Edit: Note- incognito and I ran around a bit until I had enough mana to recall. The whole time I didn't see the blade spirit do anything

If you and incognito were on the same screen, barring it being engaged with some some other woodland creature it would have been attacking either you you incognito, if it wasn't attacking you, it would have flagged you grey by attacking him, and he likely responded by going after you. When you recalled to town you were likely still grey, and attacked by jamison would have initiated a combat timer with him, however your combat timer with incognito likely expired before you saw him again and that is why he would have appeared blue.

All just a hunch because I'm guessing at the timings, but this is all in line with the way criminal notoriety is supposed to work.
