I am new to the secondage tho i played the original game for 5 years. I made a mage with 50 magery and 50 eval int. I am trying to play but with a fireball that hits a dog for less than 5% of his health it's ridiculous. I tried to kill a rabbit and with 5 fireballs only got half his health down and i ran out of mana. How can i lvl my mage up without running out of mana and burning regs like no tomorrow? I dont remember T2A having this difficulty. If someone can give me some tips and pointers on how to lvl my mage up I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Where to begin?
Magery isn't the first skill you should be training; it's pretty expensive. But if you're dead set on it, I'd suggest macroing Eval Int up to 100 first. You can get most of the way there with a macro overnight.
Not sure how 5 fireballs couldn't kill a rabbit... but perhaps more importantly... why are you killing dogs and rabbits? They have nothing of value on their corpses. Your best bet might be to head to Covetous dungeon and kill corpsers. They at least have gold on them. Maybe buy up as many blade spirit reagents as you can, and just dump some in the middle of the corpsers. That would at least hopefully bring back more gold/reagents than you spend killing them.

My guess is that he tried to kill them in town with magic.
