Archery gains

Hi there,

I started training archery yesterday, and the first bulk of arrows (~3,5k) only lasted from 28 to 48 skill. I'm training on an order guard, nothing really special here. I've read somewhere that 0->GM is supposed to take only about 7k arrows, which is clearly off from what I'm experiencing.

Am I doing it right? Missing something?

I don't know, as I've heard to GM takes about 6k arrows but that could be from the brought skill level (30). From what I hear though you should be using a mage though.

If you need arrows PM me.

You get gains when apply skill successfully, i.e. hit your opponent. I bet you've made a lot of misses trying to hit that order guard since he's got higher melee skill than you. So, stick to creatures/npcs with lower skill (to hit more times than you miss) or use accurate bows.

Took me over 16k arrows to GM the skill. I used an Order Guard to get to around 80, was horrendously slow and felt like I wasted a ton of arrows. Ended up using a polar bear as a target, gains were much better (and I got to work vet on my budget tamer.)

Yeah, this shard's skill gain seems slightly off in the fact that targets with lower skill level give better gains. At around 80 weapon skill, you start hitting an NPC mage every single time, but the gains are fantastic - they are over twice as slow when the target is a paladin.

I heard people saying it took them 24 hours to macro GM macing on a paladin.. it took me 4 hours yesterday on a mage.
