Question about placing a house

Say I buy a deed to a large house but can't find a spot for it, what can I do with the deed to get my money back? Will the npc repurchase the deed?

If you walk into the carpenters with the deed in your pack then you will see a NPC say something like "if you you would like to sell you house deed to me then please hand it to me"

So you just need to drag and drop your deed onto that NPC and the gold will go into your bank.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know a method to see if a house "might" fit in a spot? I know nothing is guaranteed until I actually try to place but if there was a way to count steps or something for a large house that would be cool.

Thanks. I will try this out in some spots. I want to see if I can place a patio.

I used to drop blood moss at one corner, then pace out the number of steps of the plot (say, 7x7) and drop blood moss (or any object, really - maps, whatever) at each corner.

You need a 1-tile perimeter free of all objects that would impede movement (there are a couple houses near mountains that violate this). And you need 5 rows of tiles in the front and back to be free of other houses.

Good idea. I'll have to check the size of the houses I'm interested in. The area is nice and flat and "looks" big enough but like I said I want to draw out the exact size and so forth. So amp'd I really need a house as my bank boxes are getting filled up.

Actually, IIRC all you need are 5 in the front and 1 on the back...BUT if there's a house behind yours, then you will need to leave 5 on the back (which are actually the 5 in the front of the other house).

Does that not apply to mountain faces?

Laz, it's 1 tile all around free of impassible objects/road/hills. some objects can go under the house, but not on the wall tiles (dirt patches, sometimes rocks)

1 tile free on the sides and 5 front and back in regards to houses

Test placement on the test shard. Theres a bank check for 1mil buried in ur bank.

The ghost image is sometimes off, and it differs from pc to pc. test placing a small and see how far off your ghost image is is.

Brilliant! I will do this, just have to get the coordinates. Shouldnt take too long.

Yes, I believe you can be just 1 tile away on the back from a mountain face. But best is to test it.

Won't place it test. I think the back of the house places right next to a tree line.
