Taming - server line bug?

I haven't been able to confirm this, but I remember for the majority of t2a your tamed animals would become gimped to the stats of a bear when crossing server lines - this meant anytime you actually took your white wyrm/dragon/nightmare outside of the dungeon it was gimped.
The only workaround, if you could call it that, was gating them to another dungeon to hunt with but you couldn't take them outside and keep their strength.
Is this still in? To be honest it really gimped taming.
