UO Second Age

First off (as this is my first post), marvelous experience being here.

Now...mining questions and their second age accuracy. I have been working mining up for a bit (approx. 65 currently). Having not found any colored ore at 60, I thought that this must be the time period prior to colored ore. However, I just saw a pile of shadow ore in someone's house. I cannot recall if colored ore first came on the scene as a GM only acquisition or if the success was originally scaled by skill level. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect in this "time"?

On the T2AWiki there is a skills tab and under mining it has all of the required skills for all of the different ores. You should be getting dull copper at 65 now.
