Can't find a spot to put anything larger than the small houses here. The shard is obviously growing, and people have empty houses everywhere, for no apparent reason. 15 houses per person?

it took me and a couple friends a month to get a Tower. During that time we also made 6+ 7x chars between us and got a large brick and small house besides the tower.

It's not hard to get going on this shard if you are smart about it.

That said, Save up the cost of a tower + small house deed, get em, then go to the buying/selling forums or contact tabias and get yourself a tower, that's about the going rate for a tower in an average location.

I think what he's complaining about is that if you go around looking for housing spots you'll find tons and tons of empty towers, keeps, castles, large bricks and two stories - it's kind of obnoxious.

Yup, I got a 2 story in about a week of playing. 4 of the 5 smalls around me are completely empty. Just taking up space. I can see having 15 houses IF you use them(even for showing off all your decorations) just use them!

To be fair, most placed housing sells for less than 50k above the price of a house deed. Compare that to OSI where a placed house of any size was instantly worth a bundle regardless of location and the situation's not too bad. When you've farmed enough cash to buy a house deed just keep going for a little bit and you'll probably have enough cash to take your pick from the selling forum.

be glad your here now and not in 3 years, when there will actually by a housing market. then the 25k your complaining about will be more like 250k

I'm by no means complaining about the housing system or suggesting there needs to be change, but some of the veterans that have hoarded so many spots are just ridiculous. Look around some of the more popular areas and you'll find many houses owned by the same person, all sitting completely empty.

Quite a few times, I've found houses that I really liked, completely empty, unused, that I'd watch just go through the various stages of decay, only to be refreshed once every couple of weeks. In every case, I'd try to track down the owner, offer to pay considerably and they'd refuse to sell.

I will admit, players are free to do whatever they'd like. They are their houses, afterall. But it's quite a shame that we have so many dead areas that could easily house active guilds or hold good vendors and instead just sit there empty, unused.

Back in the day there were numerous areas which created much activity across the map...some very popular hotspots that we all remember. These areas would be stocked with good vendors, players would go there to shop, pks would come there for targets, etc. It created lots of interaction in places like the crossroads, brit crossroads, west vesper, vesper strip....I'll admit theres some activity in these areas on occasion, but here many of those areas are just being tied up with empty houses not for sale. Many of these prime spots will probably just remain empty and useless for as long as the server is up. Dunno seems quite a shame. [/rant]

Hey, keep trying! My first home here is a small placed on a plot that looks like it can fit a 14x14. Funny thing is, 2 L shapes popped up next to me on spots I thought couldn't fit anything other than a small.

It's not at all. My thoughts are based solely on my experiences trying to buy housing in some of the once more popular areas. Many of these houses have been sitting their, vacant for some time.
I've had a few experiences trying to buy some properties that are obviously not being used, the owner's simply do not want to sell.

Not to point fingers, but look at the signs on almost every house on west Vesper strip sometime. Nearly the entire area is held by one person who has no interest in selling. I'm not saying that every area is like this. More than likely, most of the popular areas are being held by numerous owners, but you'll continue to see houses unused, the owners holding them just for the sake of hoarding.

Again, I'm not suggesting any change and the owner's have every right to do as they please. But I do think if such areas weren't being held down just for the sake of doing so, we'd have more interaction across the map.

It's still possible to place stuff around L-shape size, you just have to look around. Loads of space available. If you have trouble, hop on IRC and I'm sure someone will hook you up with a spot.

Theres your problem.... obviously the hot spots are not going to open for housing.. nor would they be cheap.... there the prime spots and experienced players know that.
