there's the only example i could find for the moment.
but i distinctly remember this was something that was taken seriously.
there's even a section for harassment in the help button,
i believe it copied some of the players journal and sent it for review.

i'm a big advocate of free speech, but don't understand the logic
of letting people chase after others spamming hate speech in the game
when it's not tolerated on irc, or the public forum section.

really the biggest thing that boggles my mind about it is just that
our community is so small.. several hundred people? maybe a few thousand?
people complain about the lack of pvp, the lack of noobs to go kill.
maybe if players could enjoy the game as a game, and not some extension
of reality to hide behind and take out hate on.. we may get some more
noobs, veterans, females, and who knows what else.

i'd like to see this put into the game, it's most definitely era accurate.
especially not being able to chase someone around repeating slander.
there's free speech, and hate speech. bringing skin color or sexuality into
a video game is pretty pointless. seriously some people need to chill out
and think about the community growing.

i mean this is pretty standard stuff for any online multiplayer game and has been.

by harassing people with hate speech unrelated to the game, all you're doing
is circumventing new donations, players, pvp, potential coders, anything and everything.

I would like to add that you cannot squelch a players name or guild title. Some of the guild titles on the server are disgusting, and the player names are out of hand.

Man. That was some CLASSIC OSI right there in those letters. All that was missing was a "I cannot help you with that"!

Ya know, as much as I loved UO, when I quit UO, I was so mad I vowed to never purchase another OSI title. and when EA took over, I vowed never to buy another EA title. (F do I miss those EA Sports NHL series games).

PS: KoC was good pvp'ers. Played with them as Blood on AC/Darktide a bit. Wonder if they still exist. (sorry)

macroing had something to do with the game, and is generally accepted on most player shards.
probably all players macro, this is an integral game mechanic so we don't have to spend

hate speech involving genocide philosophy is not part of ultima online.

there's in fact a great number of groups where these people can congregate

reminds me of the overweight individual who's an avid football fan, yet they don't play the sport.

the fact that people hide behind the veil of a game to attempt the very same
does nothing but hurt the server growth.
as highlighted before, we are all suffering from lack of potential players, donations, events,
anything that anyone could bring to the game/server.

you want more people to pk? then grow up.

Why isn't calling someone an idiot also "hate speech" ? It's the same thing, saying something with the intent of causing emotial hurt.

First off I would like to see the racist stuff die down. Im white. I get looted by a guy(Im fine with it) but then he comes running up calling me a "stupid f*g n***a!" What the hell? Really grow up.

As for unattended macroing being not allowed that is very true, the argument of its allowed on most player run shards is worthless because we're going for era-accurate which has nothing to do with other player shards.

ehafh - you can't pick and choose which things you want to follow such as racism and yet leave macroing okay(I love macroing and would hate to see it go) but it'd be okay with me to keep this server clean of racist crap.

I feel bad for the 1 black guy(if there are even that many) that play here and hear it constantly.

FWIW i was perma banned in the first weeks of playing back in late 1998 for making a guy named 'Hung like Kong'

i wasn't going around bragging about the name or nothing. i thought it was funny and never thought it was an insult to anybody. i was just mining in minoc, minding my own business, and then i'm in jail the next second. a very short explanation > lost connection > perma ban

from that point i was very paranoid about the works i typed because i didn't know if/what i could get banned for.

My friend got banned for saying "sup wigger". It was only after a ton of emails back and forth with OSI, and advertising the injustice on his website that he finally got his account back.

OSI really did police ANY subtle kind of racism quite heavily. My account was also banned after I lent it to a friend, who dropped the N-bomb. Permanent ban, never saw that account again.
