Why are these Rules not inforced ALL the time?

http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=104

seems like the shit has to litterally hit the fan before a moderater will even think of inforcing the rules!!!

and then they even make up new rules, on the spot!!

We all have other obligations that generally get the majority of our attention throughout the day. By time we check on IRC the preverbial stuff has already hit the fan. In addition, since we read the backlogs we often take retroactive action appropriate to the situation.

We evenly enforce all rules. We also reserve the right to modify or change the rules at any time without any prior notice. Generally speaking, however; unless it is an emergency rule we will generally notify everyone first.

There has been a sharp increase in the profanity in the regular forums. These threads are indexed by the search engines and we ask for the sake of maintaining our excellent placement and family friendly image that profanity be restricted to the Trash Talk, Guild, and "Other" forums, which are not search engine indexed, or available to non registered users.

Thanks!
Quick! Mods! Ban immediately! Wahhhhhh!!

From the thread you linked:

"The staff of #SecondAge reserve the right to modify the following set of rules without prior warning, explanation or justification. Failure to comply with these rules may result in your temporary or permanent removal from the channel."

And this is the guy that tell me I don't read threads.

Edit: Also to what degree the rules are enforced are to the digression of the channel operators. For instance, I personally don't mind a curse word here or there. So I'm not going to kick or ban people for using them unless it gets out of hand or they're being abusive.

I also believe in giving people warnings because it's easy for people to get worked up. For instance, if I were strictly enforcing the rules without warnings or and leniency, you'd be banned right now Darkwing.

I think we can all accept that fact that you guys have a RL :) To alleviate the problem I would suggest giving trustworthy individuals IRC mod rights and reviewing the logs in case of an incident. In that spirit, I would nominate blackfoot for IRC mod. The racism, homophobia and bigotry on IRC is absolutely out of control and the atmosphere regularly varies between disgusting and intolerable and there needs to be some sort of response.

Cheers,
Cara

It Looks like this needs to be revisited again ...

its VERY hard to catch the Players needing help with all the non UO Rambling
and when you do see a question from a player looking for answers, the answer gets swallowed up by all of the Rambling.

Can we Please get the #secondage chat room back on Topic ... (UOSecondeAge)

Lets Try to Help the Player Base .. not Annoy them!

Agreed. If someone comes into the room and asks a UO related question, all off-topic conversations need to cease or be taken to a private chat. This way the channel functions "as intended".

So, what can be done about this...I know there have been many times when I have gone in to ask a question and been ignored or looked over becuase I was the only one talking about the game.

I usually have to repeat my question 2 or 3 times to get someone to notice.

I know you might have had to ask 2 or three times, but did you try PMing anyone?

Did you look through the wiki?

Expecting answers on your first time around might not always be feasible.

Braden's new rule has just been breached, here is my formal complaint:
[03:32:37] Mens_Rea: where do i tame dragons? (NOTE ALL NON-UO DISCUSSION MUST BE CEASED NOW THAT A QUESTION RELATING TO UO HAS BEEN ASKED: http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17355 per Braden - "Agreed. If someone comes into the room and asks a UO related question, all off-topic conversations need to cease or be taken to a private chat. This way the channel functions "as intended".)
[03:35:31] Sexy_ISPsucks: Or people could just not respond and say nothing.
[03:35:47] Sexy_ISPsucks: ...which looks like is actually happening.
[03:36:22] Sexy_ISPsucks: Anywho, dragons are at Destard....or Fire Temple on Fire Island Mr. Rain_on_the_Parade.
[03:38:45] DocFaustus[MDK]: Back to reality...
[03:40:48] Mens_Rea: how much silver does it cost to buy neon hair
[03:40:53] Mens_Rea: (NOTE ALL NON-UO DISCUSSION MUST BE CEASED NOW THAT A QUESTION RELATING TO UO HAS BEEN ASKED: http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17355 per Braden - "Agreed. [03:43:10] Sexy_Smithy: and discourages players from interacting with one another, which we all know is detrimental to a shards health. Please, enforce this policy....
[03:44:04] Mens_Rea: that comment is based on a rule change and should be in the forums - you have no breached the new rule and I will be making a complaint on the forums.

Who do i PM? How many people are in that channel at one time? How many people are afk? How many NEVER log out of IRC. So I ask again, which of those names do I PM? And before you say "A GM", they don't always answer and I would like to get things answered without bothering them.

Yesterday I wanted to buy a ridable llama.

I sent a PM to someone that I had seen selling mounts before. After which, I owned a ridable llama.

Some people seem hellbent on creating controversy.
