Running & Throwing exploding pots?

I was killed by exploding potions the other day running at full speed on a perfect connection. I was a screen ahead of the thrower and he would still hit me.

I thought that when throwing potions you had to be still and if you threw it at a moving target it would land at the spot where he stood when you threw it, so that if the runner moved it wouldn't hit him.

Can someone explain?

Waiting for an explanation too as I would like to start using them. I think, and this is just a theory, they are holding them until they are about ready to blow up.

Probably using a Razor macro that double clicks the pot, waits and then throws at last target.

Yea just hold the pot until it reaches 1 second then throw it.
Have 1 hotkey to use the pot, Wait till you see a 1 on the countdown, then hit another hotkey for last target. It'll land at their feet and if you time it right it'll blow right on or by them.
Or you can make a macro that does all the steps above and just have a 2.XX second timer, but I like to do it manually.

That seems very cheap but doable. It seems better than anything else. Mages have to pause to cast.

This is very commonly used by PKers to hunt down people running away. The range is supposed to be only 10 tiles. But on top and bottom edge of the screen (depending on game size; I use standard), it may look like pursuer is out of screen but actually is still within 10 tiles. So commonly, they have you as last target and they throw it at you once they see the "1" on the timer. It takes good timing. Timed macros sometimes fail because of lag (a skip/glitch of 0.25 seconds can cause the pot to blow up at thrower, and they're working with less than a second here), so I think most people do it manually. It's not entirely fool proof though. Next time someone does that, run around a wall, behind a house (keep circling it), and the pot will blow up on them! Sometimes uneven terrain also helps. I still haven't perfected using explode pots because of these obstacles, and also have to improve my timing.

It's not exactly "better" than anything else as you say, because the damage is only around 10-20. If you run farther then them they can't reach you anyways. And in this shard, running away is super easy (unless you're connected from Nigeria or somewhere...).
