If you didn't read the thread title (I don't know how you missed it), this concerns retames yielding the message "That wasn't even challenging." and how there cannot be skill gains on retame.

First of all, and I assume this has been rehashed to death but those discussions were before my time on the server, is this really era accurate? I mean, I will accept it if it is, but hell, this isn't a "cute" nuance like 1 at a time bandages. This is an agonizing barrier to skilling up a tamer. If accurate, and I'm sure it is, I'd still like to see the documentation supporting this.

Secondly, I swear to sweet christ if you are taming on dagger isle and you do not kill your tames, I will murder you. I will murder you and then rez kill you for hours. No mercy, no shame. I will follow you with my stealther and shove a DP kryss in your right kidney as soon as you move on without killing that polar bear you didn't even bother to rename and/or release.

Seriously fellas; rent an npc overnight and run a heal bot, skill up any frickin weapon skill and tactics to GM, and create a macro to:
say all guard me
dress: weapon
attack last target
say all stop

... and kill the animal. If you think I might be following you, I am. Your kidneys are mine if you aren't killing your tames.

If you want to slaughter animals for taming gains you will have to buy a permit from cA.

Unfortunately, there are a bunch of idiots in Delucia that do the same thing on a daily basis. There is that trickle down effect however - if one wakes up dead in Delucia just thank the tamers that cause Orcs to be lead into town constantly to kill the riffraff and possibly some good citizens/mounts on the side.

I lead an Orc Lord in the other day and watched him decimate someone's pack of about nine llamas and ossies in front of the bank in one of the fenced in areas - took about 60 seconds and was a thing of beauty. Thank the tamers who don't kill or even release for that one.

Yes. It wasn't until one of the UO:R patches this was changed to make animals more difficult to retame.

This is very era accurate. I think you might even find this exact quote in a 1999 newsgroup posting

I agree, not killing your tames slows everyone down...but a resolution!!
