The server saves often just incase of crashes, to decrease any setbacks. I believe Derrick has said that saves won't be changed until he can incorporate constant saving that doesn't require a paused save (I think).
Haven't heard about any crashes recently, server does restart at 7 AM EST

The server has crashed for me all of about 2x since I started playing. What're you talking about?

The shard has just come up, I hadn't realised that it was down.

Runuo servers rarley ever crash, usually if servers go down its conection problem. I have been here now for allmost 3 months and so far not a single server crash. Once there was an network outage but it didnt revert anything ingame. Allthoe when server went up onnline they shut it down and revert it about 5 minutes, and i am guessing it was for those that happend to die in dungeons due to dissconecting. I consider that to be far better uptime and stability than osi. And its a huge laxury that free shards never had with sphere and pol emulators.

Been playing 3 months and haven't experienced a crash yet. Sometimes it doesn't come up immediately after server restart (longest wait has been a couple of hours), but that's all I can think of.

Yes I think your mistaken the daily shard restart for a crash .. This is really server wars (era acc.) and a way to keep the shard very stable.
Crash tonight was the first one I've been online for in months.

Thats 3 questions...Misleading subject is misleading.
However: 1) Because, you should take a 6 to 16 second break at least once an hour. 2) Prolly not but see# 1. 3) LIES!

Actually when the shard crashes it gives a server message "Thanks for playing UOSA, the server has crashed."
And the world saves seem to happen every 30 minutes?

I have yet to have the server crash on me. I did have issue of the client crashing but that was resolved when I turned off the game music.

It might just be me.
But I wouldn't mind the world save happening a bit less often.

It would be nice, but its never caused any problems. Its a 7-12 second pause. Nothing horrible. Think of it this way its a great safety thing.
Save and save often!
