Reporting and Placing Bounties One In The Same?

Just wanted to bring the subject up since I thought that reporting someone for murder and placing a bounty on their head were two separate options.

They are related but different. To report someone for a murder gives them a long term count and a short term count, even if you place 0 gold on their head.
Now if you put 1gp-10kgp and report them they get the short and long term count as long as a bounty posted on them.

So its worst to report the bounty? Does that mean they can't macro off the kills if theres a bounty on their head?

Bounties are only collectable from a character with 5 or more short terms.
Having a bounty or not makes 0 difference on timer to 4 short terms or 4 long terms.
Clicking "ok" on the bounty gump will report the character for murder, with no bounty. Posting a bounty is pretty much entirely pointless as the only thing it will serve is a sense of satisfaction to the killer. I know on OSI some dude bountied my deep stat for 50k and it was the happiest moment of my life.

pretty much the only the bounty is for, is in hopes of someone checking board and seeing Player X has a 50k bounty, killing him and get the bounty. By killing the PK he is most likly in stat and will either have to macro kills or take a skill loss and res.
