Greetings!

The Green Horde is an institution renowned for academic excellence!

In honour of Second Age becoming our new home we are pleased to announce a poetry and writing contest.

How to enter:

1) Write any sort of poem, story, article or any other writing in a SMALL RED BOOK [like newbie books] with your forum name as the author and give it to Smithy (GH) or Sui Juris (*N*), they will be around Britain Bank over the next few days to collect the books, unless I can figure out a better system.

2) The topic is:

- "Why Pre UO:R is better than Post UO:R Ultima Online".

Prizes:

1st place: 50k gold
2nd place: 20k gold
3rd place: 10k gold

Get writing, and I will try to figure out a better way to collect entries.

I need an entry box...

I was thinking maybe locking down a chest behind some tables, if I remember correctly you should be able to place things into it but not take them back out.

I'll have a try and see if it works, otherwise I will arrange something else.

Okay I've decided to do it this way:

Private message me with your answer, it really can be anything. I will transcribe answers into books myself.

This avoids people stealing other people's books from the dropoff point.

Winner announced soon, so send them through kthx ^^

WINNER by Mass:

I saw you once. Dreamt have I
How you faced the night.
Trembling, slivered
Cross full and bright.
Two eyes watching
our slumber fight.
Two eyes watching
our fateful plight.
Bestowing gaze
enable; Appeareth
Light, Soft and Warm
Yet I know thee right.

Thief, I am sure.
I have seen your eyes
Spectacled on one:
Wanting, his mind.
Pale is the color
Of your sickly light.
With Envy, sir,
Shade of your sad inside.
Tis wrong, pair o' moon --
Have you no pride?
Majestic no more,
The duties of sky?

"Tired am I.
Illuminating fields
Where children cry
The morning after on deeds I spy.
Must it be so hard?
Answer me, wise.
I think not, no...
Hold I another design
In which I split the world
On my two eyes.
Good for the right,
Closed for the blind."

Oh my, thief I am sure
I shall answer you wise.
Should you remove our trials
You erase from our lives
All sense of joy,
All manner of pride.
Leaving us frail, perhaps heartless
Devoid of our ties.
Struggle, yes, we.
But struggle together
Upon pains of death?
We strengthen our mettle bonded honest by life.

O, that you moons
Could feel such tides.
The scourge of defeat
Ebbed, no, toppled! With victory high.
Forget the sound of our children,
Our true voice is found in the cry of our battle:
Push! Again, Push!
Push! Again, Push!
Don't you hear? Yes, listen tight --
Tis the beat of our hearts,
Tis the beat of our pride.
Without which, yes -- we finally die.

What say you thief,
Wouldst thou steal our lives?
Shelter us in a world denied
Where we wither away with no honor or shine?
Honor us honestly, I say!
Give light to our sky and
Thereby our fields and
Thereby our lives.

"Tired am I.
Illuminating fields
Where children cry.
So illuminate will I, the course of pride

...and watch with great envy, though sleepy am I."

SECOND by ArthurDent:

"suck on it":
I stumble out of the commode
Taco Bell had taken its toll
I look at my screen and what do I see
My character dead in his abode
How could this be I thought
My door was surely locked
He met his demise but my alt stayed alive
so an answer need not be sought
Ask and ye shall receieve
Sui Juris arrives on scene
through the window he hurls some meteors
My home isnt as safe as I believed
I asked him why he did it
I wonder if it was worth it
He must be a child because his only reply
was the lifeless phrase, "suck on it"

THIRD by ArthurDent:

let me count the ways:

Freely finding fault with the way things came to be
Patches left us distraught with ways to increase the peace
private shards found a way to eliminate the fees
UOSA got it right with an authentic t2a dream
