Inaccurate Rares?

I dont collect rares, nor do I really care to much about trying to collect them, knowing where they spawn, or what timers they are on. I do know one thing though, on OSI the big time for "rares hunters" was right at server up. Shortly before the server went down you would often see people crowded in one spot or another hoping to be the one to grab the rare spawning "book, that looks slightly different than normal books".

Why is it that rares spawn on some bizarre timer here? To the best of my knowledge, they spawned at server-up, and I can see no reason for them to continue spawning in this manner.

I'm not talking about the time delay between spawnings. I am talking about "when" they actually spawned. Server goes down without a rare, server comes up with a rare.

I have researched this as well and all information I saw about the times was that they spawned right at server up. ( http://www.uorares.com/Database/SpawningRares/index.php being one example)

edit: forgot to mention how this would making rare hunting more fun and competitive, and give others a chance to get rares who don't have their spawn times on a handy spread sheet :D

it was changed to random timers so the economy would not be flooded with rares, or something to that affect.

That's how it worked in-era though. Is mechanical accuracy no longer important?

Further evidence that Matron is Blackfoot.

I also remember this. There used to be a bunch of hidden people at the hedge maze after server up trying to get that basket and water bucket.

Not a big deal either way on this to me. Restricting it to server up will just flood the rares market but meh ;/

It wouldnt "flood the rares market". The only real difference is that it would give anyone a chance to compete in getting the rares, because no specific person will have all of the timers worked out. (No I will not be "getting the rares" even then). The exact same amount of rares will spawn, only the timer will be adjusted towards a more accurate interpretation of how it was.

I just don't see how more rares will be flooding the market?

With the current rares, are the rares not being picked up? I'm pretty sure there's a good bit of people who check rare spawns..

Lets say I want a dirty fry pan, and downs keeps getting it because he gets it at the 5pm eastern spawn every month. Would more dirty frying pans appear on the market if in the same day, it spawned at server up instead of 5pm?

I'm not fighting for it either way I'm just curious

Every single european player in cA, (not to mention you) is on at server up. Looks like it would hinder USA rare hunters.
