Attack Loop Stops and Client Freezes

Sometimes my dexxer's attack loop will stop even when I'm standing right next to my target and spamming attack last or double clicking like mad on their avatar or health bar.

Sometimes my client will freeze.

What are some common sources for these symptoms and what can I do to cure?

First off, I'll let you get the last word in because I know how much your kind love to see your own text.

Second off, all I see are wizards that can't handle a fast fighter. Cheating, hexing, complaining non-stop. We're not manipulating time. Learn to reactivity train. Polymorph into something useful for combat. Eventually, we'll be there. Only we won't be still life caricatures, things of your intention or dust lodged in the silver. On every frame, every cigarette burn the turn of your screws.

Laugh more. The EXIF data helps us.

I have such beautiful images to share with you. Marvelous noises. Distinct tastes. Living smells. Have you ever been tattooed by the holy liquid steel? Little prisses and their boxes of chains, doing their mundane tweaking of physics.

"Hand to hand. It is the basis of all combat. Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon."

Either way, thanks for the constructive additions to the thread.

Tools.

wha? imho runnin any macro that loops is retarded. But I guess that's just me ;p- i don't have a tab macro or spam attack last. I do it manually- I do believe the loop of a very small macro will cause your client to lock up. Paste your razor macro. We'll hope all dexers use it from now on as well.

How are you gonna use other macros if you got one looping?

I wasn't aware that re-targeting like this had any useful effect. Does this eek out a little more attack speed or something? I remember when I started playing as a little kid in 98 I used to continually click on things as I fought them (because I thought I had to in order to attack) and I always ended up accidentally attacking my friends, haha. People would get pissed. I wish I'd known that I was actually using leet strategy. Then they would have understood!

Also, what the hell is going on with the terrible poetry? I'm looking forward to seeing Blackbeard sling that stuff in the trash talk competition on Sunday.

I'm not using a macro.

Hotkey 1 > Target nearest enemy/grey/murderer
Hotkey 2 > Attack target

Well, I'm not really flaming anyone, if you're counting me in that. Really, I had my own legit question: what's the point of re-attacking repeatedly? (Sorry, perhaps I should save my tactless newbie questions for the little-guy forum).

Okay, I guess technically they are macros so the first question really boils down to: What are the reasons a macro set up to a hotkey will stop working? I've noticed the Alt O macros have never given me any trouble in the past.

To kill the person you're attacking on your dexxer. One weapon hit doesn't usually do it...

You don't need to re-target the opponent to hit them again. Once you've attacked you should continuously strike... clearly I'm missing something here.

EDIT: I think it has been shown that I really didn't understand what was going on here, and thought everyone was talking about some game-mechanics-exploiting strategy, but in fact poor Blackbeard is the victim of some anti-dexer-conspiracy glitch. Sorry for the needless posts! Good luck doub-b!

Yeah, I said that my character's attack loop stopped even when I was standing next to my target and I was asking why this would happen and what I can do to prevent it in the future.

Just set a hotkey to attack last, and press it when you are near them. If you spam attack-last it can time-out. You will always strike an opponent regardless of attack-last usage, (you certainly dont "need" to macro-loop it), but the only advantage of re-attacking after your initial attack is to force someone to swing (wrestle usually) which can ruin their swing timer.

The idea is to press attack-last at the right slow-enough frequency so you make your target swing, but do not time-out the attack-last queue. The same idea applies to tabbing out.
