Considering playing here

A few friends and I are considering starting UOSA. I do have a few questions, though:
- Is PlayUO allowed here? If so, are we allowed to write non-automating plugins such as sticky bars and enhanced in-game counters?
- Is the economy active enough that I will not need to make my own crafter straight away just to advance my own main characters?
- About how long does it take macroing (i.e. not including buying things, moving your character, etc.) to 7x a tank mage?
- What are typically regarded as the best means of obtaining gold? Are the only decent hunting spots too swarmed with PKs to bother hunting in small groups?
Thanks,
Suil

1) I beleive Razor is only allowed assistant software, let someone correct me, if it is not right.
2) Economy? What kind of things you need so badly to make your main characters advance? GM weapons, bows and armor are easy to find and sold by fair prices, same as potions. Poisoned weapons are less frequent, but can be found, as well. Cant think about anything else you will need.
3) In about 3 days of unattended macro and right technique, it is "nearly here" (98+) except, maybe, resist.
4) Hot spots and hunting places? As you can freely recall to and from dungeons, it is very easy to patrol most hunting spots. However, in right time and place making gold is not hard.

Imp is right in everything he says. I'll only add that a bard is the easiest way to make money. Macro up provocation at the Brit stables on animals in different pens. Get up enough magery to recall without fail by gathering cloth. GM hide. And then you're off to kill balrons, dragons and whatever else you like.

Or, alternatively to making a bard, make a mage and have a character who doesn't suck ^_^

Alright, so PlayUO isn't allowed...perhaps this should be added to the rules to alleviate future confusion
Thanks for the tips, guys.

We haven't set a rule Officially on the use of third party clients. The problem we have with third party utilities is the automation they potentially provide; You may only automate with Razor.
If anyone else has any feedback on the use of third party clients, please provide it.

Phew! UO just isn't the same on the OSI client. I hope you take your time making your decision concerning 3rd party clients/tools
I know PlayUO has a bad track record after the mass circulation of plugins on UOGamers way back when, but I assure you that I have no interest in gameplay automation other than AFK macroing on Razor.
Anyways, thanks for filling me in, Derrick.

Forgive me for preferring a client written using 21st century technology in the year 2008. I love you, Max, but come on. There's nothing wrong with the vanilla client.

Is this how krrious got started? Only 3rd party Ive ever used was UOAssist back on OSI. Krr developer did a misfortune to the Freeshard community. I hope PlayUO isnt similar to the shit that guy was able to do.

PlayUO is Krrios' Client.
That being said, what has it done to the freeshard community?

i don't wanna discourage you from playing here but if 3rd party programs (important keyword here) such as PlayUO is keeping you from playing here then well, i don't really know -- not my issue i guess so nvm..
As for you 'assuring' us what you want to do with PlayUO there might be tons of other people who 'because they can do it' start doing stupid shit with it...
If i remember, some of the things you could do would be like 'Loot' where you could loot nearby corpses for the best items without even really lookin?
But thats my 2 cents i guess

The PlayUO client has been very influential on the way that UO has been played, generally for the worse. A good example is a feature that actually puts a line that follows the path that your opponent has taken (it can be set in various ways). The line essentially ruins the skill of hiding as it conveniently stops where the hidden person is. That is just one way that PlayUO impacts gameplay.
