UOSA cAmillions testing

Testing out a new lottery system, here is the background:

Twice a week (TBD which days) I will go in game and record a RPV of the drawing and post it in the thead with the numbers picked by players.

How will I draw the numbers?

Using a dice and cup, I will randomly pick 5 numbers ranging from 2-12. (This is important, if you pick 0 or 1 as one of your numbers you will have a 0% chance of getting the numbers correct.)

Okay so you're (Pacifico) supplying the rewards now, what will happen after testing is over?

Eventually this will be driven by the UOSA population. The pot will keep growing each drawing until the winning numbers have been picked.

Who can test?
Everyone is welcome to test for the next few weeks, this will be the main thread for discussion on the lottery system.

Misc. Information:
Order does not matter, but the numbers picked and drawn must be the same to win.

I will gladly accept reward donations towards getting people involved to figure out the perfect system.

In the future, I want to start having no-limit hold'em poker tournaments for UOSA gold. (like last summer) and this is just another event to add to the gambling scene of UOSA.

Let's start testing:

Starting date: Wednesday, July 14th, 2010.
Ending date: Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 at 11:59 pm EST

Testing information:
1. Are people interested
2. Are 5 numbers to pick too many/little
3. How many picks per person should be allowed per drawing Currently you will be able to pick 3 sets of numbers. (must be clearly indicated)
4. What should the pot be started at

The prize pot is currently:

7/15/2010 - 10k

7/19/2010 - 10k

Total Currently: 20k

The first drawing will be: Thursday, July 15 at 6:00 pm EST.
The Second drawing will be: Monday, July 19th at 6:00 pm EST

Post in this thread up to 3 sets of 5 numbers before 6:00 pm EST on Thursday, July 15th.

Somethings I've thought about:

Post Edits:

3 minutes before the drawing I will update everyone's numbers offline so no one can edit their post and post the correct numbers

Who will be with you when you record the rpv to ensure you only record one video per draw
not record 1000 rpvs until the numbers you like come up

My (very possibly bad) statistics 101 memory calculated the odds of winning for one set of numbers at 1342 to 1. Choosing 3 sets of numbers gives you 447 to 1 odds. I don't know if that helps in your thinking or not. If these numbers are wrong by all means someone correct me and call me stupid.

I actually thought of this too. Will this be like the rl Lottery where if you match 4, 3 numbers there will also be a prize. Or what about doing it like the power ball lottery where you get a prize for matching the powerball and 2, 3 other numbers?

Yeah, basically that's why it is testing. I wanna find a nice number that makes a winner like every 2 weeks so the pot will be large and in charge.

And the drawing, I will do it in front of the public (line up 5 dice in a row and go down the line like on TV). I get home from work every day at around 5:30 so 6:00 PM eastern will be the best time for me to do it so its consistent and people can be ready to log in and check out the drawing. BlackFoot your more than welcome to come inspect and verify the numbers, along with anyone else.

SJane, I'm not sure yet, for now its match all 5 numbers but maybe will add in match 3 and 4

Like you wouldn't do it alone.

I trust Pac.
