he means he's looking for a pre-identified chainmail tunic of defense.
one where you click it and it says "a chainmail tunic of defense" instead of "a magic chainmail tunic"

Yes, meaning the title (Chainmail Tunic of Defense) is visible to anyone who clicks on it (ie pre-patch) vs having to use Item ID to see what kind of magic tunic it is (ie post-patch, or now).
