Wand problems, can anyone help?

Well anyway I'm with this girl I just met down at Brit tavern, we make it back to my castle to "get down to business", anyway I'm first on so i apply a macro to my wand (massive/lightning 4 charges) just to make sure nothing bad happens, but when i get ready to use it I realise it won't work, so I use my id skill on it and realise that Hardening has gone from the props list. I figure it was just a mix of my nervousness/stress.
TL:DR my wand lost its hardening prop when i was just about to use, need help/advice.
