Era Accuracy Bugs

Hello:
I've recently come back to UO Second Age and have been having a great time. However, there is a major feature addition that I do understand and very much do not agree with.
Double Hits
The ability to strike twice in quick succession can be described as nothing but a bug. It was never a feature contemplated by OSI, but an accident of programming. Although this may have been era accurate, it is still a bug that was eventually fixed.
The best way I look at the situation is comparing this to a duping bug. Let's say for arguments sake that there was a way to dupe gold in November of 1999 and the issue was not corrected until UO:R was released. Would we demand the gold dupe be implemented for accuracy sake? Obviously not.
It's a broken game mechanic that should be corrected. Halberd Mage is the best template for PVP as it is - does anybody really need that double swing as a crutch?
