Taking Offers.

This is not an auction, and if a price a find suitable is not reached, there will be no sale.

Correct. So your low ball of 2 million merits no reply.

I wouldn't consider anything less than 3.5 because I already have obtained the black sandals + cbd. That is why this is not an auction thread.

Since you're discussing pricing theory here... there's no rational reason why two items together would sell for more than the sum of them individually... unless people are willing to pay for the "convenience" of getting them both in one step. Which if I had to guess, is worth well under your 250k premium.

On the other hand, a CBD is most certainly worth more than the benefit of an item being blessed. The CBD carries with it an option, which in the case of these sandals is used up. This is why I can sell a stock option for more than I can sell a share of the stock itself. So, Bigoud's offer, being less than the sum of the individual items you're selling, is the rational one - it's at least in the right direction. Your reserve price is not.

I think you answered your own question here. Sandro proclaimed why his reserve is set this high, and you further explained the merit behind it being so high. I find both parties to be logical. You did however give your opinion, and I beg to differ with it. I find 250k to be a quite small premium for farming up 300 silver and a pair of black sandals (that's alot of work and time in comparison with grinding 250k gold)

Well, you can sell a stock option for far less than the stock itself as well, but only strike prices within a reasonable range around a current stock price are generally bought/sold. It's pretty uncommon to see far-in or far-out of the money options available, and this is what I believe Sandro was referring to about Bigoud's bid. Sandro could sell the item at a far higher price than the cost of the CBD and sandals, and it is no more irrational than Bigouds far lower bid, so the directions as you mentioned are actually quite equal (In the context of your financial example, that is).

As for the reserve price being irrational, well he's selling a prestige item with no competition. It was probably slightly irrational to assume there was something wrong with there being a small premium on the reserve price. If a buyer desired a pair of black blessed sandals, they would still need to purchase a CBD and the sandals. Thus the actual value for someone in the market for black blessed sandals would be ATLEAST the market value of the sum of a CBD and black sandals. Sandro's post is not an auction, and likewise is targeting someone whom may be seeking ownership of this specific item in-game. Your examples strongly suggest the black blessed sandals should be worth less because the CBD (an item not for sale here) could have been used on something perceived to be worth more? What does someone looking for black blessed sandals care about what an item they are not bidding on could be used on instead of the black blessed sandals they were in the market for?
