UO Second Age

Right now, liches spawn with level 1 OR 3 treasure maps as loot, based on http://web.archive.org/web/200012070401 ... vels.shtml. This makes no sense to me, because:

1) only a couple other monsters allegedly spawn with multiple treasure map levels
2) a lich is considered a pretty high-level monster; it appears as a guardian for level 4 chests
3) why wouldn't it also spawn with level 2 maps?

I would suggest that the source of people thinking liches had level 1 maps would be something like this:

My personal recollection (for what it is worth) is that i never knew what level map I had until I dug it up; and it's only coincidental that I primarily farmed liches and Titans; Titans more for maps, but liches more for cash. What we have is based on the stratics essay, but this does jive with my personal recollection although I'm completely prepared to admit that my recollection may be faulty in the face of any harder evidence.

I remember getting level 2 maps, but i have no idea where from.

I am 100% sure that every Treasure map I ever looted from a Lich was lvl 3. If this is a coincidence, it defied the odds considering we used to do literally hundreds of maps.

I believe I received lvl 2's from earth and air elementals primarly. The only concern I would have was that there could have been a brief period when maps first became availbable that they were random. By time we leveled up a cartographer, which was shortly after maps were introduced, liches dropped lvl 3's 100% of the time---never lvl 2's nor 4's, or 1's for that matter.

I know when i started on the shard i had several maps from Liches. Was extrememly surprised when i went to dig them up and they were all level 1s. I even paged a Gm at that time about it and got the answer that they could be either lvl 1 or lvl 3.

I didnt agree with it but if thats the loot rules so be it.

do ophids loot you on this server? i've never seen them loot anything. i know for a fact terathans don't.

Thanks, I belive they should be, but they are not currently.
