Stealth

Has anyone looked into the stealth range? I thought someone said a while back it was more than 10 tiles.

Well, I found this from Dec 1999:

2. Snooping is nerfed. It is totally worthless to the Rogue. I can hide
and I can walk 16 spaces in stealth walking. But when I snoop a pack,
I'm revealed. It does me no good then to even stealth up to you. The
only way to counteract this is by waiting next to the person you want to
snoop, snooping, waiting for his pack to open and then hiding again.
Hopefully you hide successful and the player does not notice.

The number of steps you can take while stealthed has been halved.
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.game ... 5f90db4103

--- First Post --------------------------------

On HTTP://UO.STRATICS.COM they list the rules for STEALTH.

It says you can achieve the following amount of hidden steps while in
Stealth-Mode.

Hiding Steps
------------------------
80 16
85 17
90 18
95 19
100 20

I'm have 91 Hiding and 95.2 Stealth and can only walk 10 steps and I
become visible... This is even when Naked and M.T. pack.

Is there something wrong?

--- Reply -------------------------------------

Yes, in the last patch they halved the amount of steps you can take while
hidden...

Nice find, thanks.

My original intrepretation of the original post was that the person had re-stealthed.

Its amazing how people can remember that stealth was 20 steps when it was only in game for one month.

feb 1999 stealth was put into game
Mar 1000 stealth movement halved (to max of 10 for Gm)

I don't remember anything - never used the skill back then. I thought someone here mentioned it.

Derrick, I guess given the absence of other posts, I'd be inclined to agree. I tried searching for "stealth squares", "stealth tiles" and "stealth spaces" (idiotically, did not think of "stealth steps" like Joyeur). Thanks for looking into this guys.

Sorry this is off topic but there is a patch note in one of those link that reached out and punched me in the face.
Patch note above wrote:Tame firebreathers will no longer breathe fire at bystanders.
Murderer's + Dragons anyone?

No, that fixed the problem where firebreathers would flip out and attack blues. Often triggered by the blue in question casting a spell.
