Here are some problems I've encountered:

-Not being able to meditate/focus concentration with clothes, (4) armor

-skill gains are ridiculously hard

Which clothes? My guess is your skill is simply too low to meditate at certain mana levels. I've had no problem meditating in clothes and most non-metal armor.

Skill gain is in most cases comparable or easier than it was in 1999. We seem to have some evidence that Resist is harder to raise here than it was back in the day, but beyond that I don't know of anything. What skill specifically are you having trouble with? There's a ton of Guides in this forum on how to raise skills efficiently.

Clothing does not have an effect on meditation, but meditation is difficulty based. The lower your mana as a percentage, the harder it will be to meditate. There is more info on the meditation skill available here: http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?p=2366#p2366

my meditation is low, but didn't realize it was like this back in the days....seemed easier back then
