Hey.

So i've created three characters and none are getting off the ground too swiftly. It's a real pain actually :)

Not sure what the easiest way to get started would be...Also, can't get the game into full screen mode. Anyone have any ideas for that?

Same. Also, UoH is a very helpful guild, with lots of oldskool UOSA players. #UoH on IRC, or we have our own section of the forums.

As far as getting started, a fisher is a great way to go. Minimal risk vs reward, and decently easy gains. You could easily make money with just three skills: Fishing (of course), Item ID (so you don't waste money on ID wands), and Peacemaking (so the serps leave you alone). I would also maybe recommend hiding, if you're going to be IDing stuff on the fly on your boat. All aforementioned skills are mostly GMable afk over one or two nights. The only one that takes more time/effort is fishing, and you can gain that AFK to 93ish from shore. After that, you need a boat and to be attentive....as you can then fish up T-maps. It takes a bit to get to GM (took me about a week of casual grinding), but then you get MiBs. MiBs bring no monsters, and can make you 2000ish gold minimally...and bring the chance for high-end weps/armour. It's how I got enough to buy my first L, and start working on my other chars.

Note: AFK Fishing from shore is no longer allowed

Make a nooby with these skills/stats . . .
50 resist, 49 meditation and 1 music

eventually your gonna have these skills: mage, med, resist, wrestle, music, provo and your 7th you can choose between hiding, lockpicking, maybe even stealth its up to you.

1. macro snooping till you got 100 dex, now get gm wrestling fighting against a hirling

2. Use cooking skill to get 100 intelligence

3. get gm mucis & provo

4. buy magery and resist up to 30 (and everything else thats below 30)

5. run back and forth in a fire field while a healer keeps you alive till you got 55 resist

6. start casting lighting on yourself once youve got 55 resist, do this till you got 65 resist, magery will gm long before resist, so when macroing spells, go by resist, not magery.

Resisting spells

lightning till 65, e bolt till 85, flamestrike till gm

meditation

in order to gain meditation, you have to be in the right mana range when you initiate the meditation. To do this take your inteligence(100) and subtract your current meditation skill the result is what you will begin meditating at. Also, your spell has a 1-3 second casting time so ,ake him begin casting a couple of seconds before you get to the desired range so immediately after the spell goes off, your in the perfect range.

Do it all in that order and youll have a nice pure bard to make gold with, later you can work up a pvper

magery/med/resist macro

If mana > X
Cast spell X
Target self
else
use skill meditation
wait till mana > X
end if

If you find me in irc, I got an empty small you can macro in.

cheers

You are welcome to PM me, also: getting started most-often need a reliable (even if only modest) income; it is not incredibly difficult, once you understand where/how to start and what to expect.

I can direct you to reliable vendors and such as well; my guild has trade skills that might help you out.

What is your goal with the character(s)? What do you want to do with them?

Starting off mining or lumberjacking and selling the resources can help you start. Have one char collecting resources and another character macroing up stats then skills. This got me started pretty quickly, though it is a little slow at first!

There's no reason to ever stop mining if you just set it up right. Except for people who claim to make 60k/hour on their tamer or whatever the magic bullet of farming is today, I doubt anyone except maybe a well supplied t-hunter can match the income on mining unless you play way too much and outpace ingot demand. Reds here are blind, deaf and dumb if you stay out of their ghosted hotspots, so miners (and especially hiding recall miners) can make infinity money with impunity.
