An aged traveler....

Hail!
I should briefly introduce myself before getting to the main point of my inquiry,
I am a old time UO player dating back 1999, and have been a nomad free shard player since about 2001, Originally I played on Great Lakes, and played on many free servers, Ithyca, Zulu hotel, Zulu SA, Metropolis, just to name a few of my most memorable, My girlfriend and I (who is a player of 6 years experience user name: Cyndryn) have been playing on a few rouge shards, though none of which have had any luck of capturing out attention as our favorites have in the past... We are looking for a new home... a solid one, we are dedicated PVMer and crafter's, who enjoy being part of the community, so my questions to all of is about the basics,
Does this shard use travel stones or traditional portals?
Rune books?
7x gm / 225skill cap?
characters start with minimum skills?
Skill gain speed?
and if you could tell me what you like and dislike most about this shard that would be awesome

also maybe some essential skills to have when starting here
We thank you very much, and wish you all the best of luck in your travels,
-Wise & Cyndryn

(1) portals
(2) runebooks exist, they are not blessed (encouraging usage of rune libraries!)
(3) yes
(4) yes
(5) gain speed is slow to average, but as unattended macroing is allowed, no skill is really too slow (except, maybe taming?)
I like pristine simplicity of the world model, I dislike it for the same - since it leaves not much goals to pursue.

I like the fact that its not a bullshit shard. Its a shard that will last the test of time. I like the fact that skill gain is slow and worthy to invest in. This shard is what Ultima Online use to be. if you liked it back then, you will like it now.

Probably things I dislike most are, multiple clients (3 accounts), people macroing 24/7 and lack of field action.

I completely agree that players should only be allowed one account. However, I see the reasoning behind having multiple accounts per IP, as there are 5 people within this household that play. So multiple accounts suites us just fine. On the other hand though, it gives us an advantage. For example, we can all 'macro' fighting eachother for skill gains instead of going to the good old "bone wall", remember that?

Majority of players here don't even step out of macroing until 7x, its incredibly sad. Long gone are the adventurers.

Thank you all for your kind welcomes and responses, I have created a character and begun my building, I am going with a mage/bard at this point
GM magery
GM Resist
GM Music
GM Provo
GM Med
GM hiding
GM eval int
this seems to be a strong build in the past,
also what kind of lock picking is there here? just for treasure hunting and maps or are there random chest spawns in the dungions?
If you See " Wise " Around Brit Say Hi! Thanks

I think the problem with macroing is people have already spent there days of adventuring and know what the World of UO has to offer.. They want to get their skills up to get straight to the good stuff. I understand that and it doesn't bother me.

Yes, there are pickable dungeon chests.
