Tracking and Tinkering
Tracking)
I've seen it mentioned before, but I am almost certain that there was 4 options for tracking. Animals, monsters, NPC Humans and Player Humans (or something to that effect). Tracking is absurd when the player-placed-NPC-vendors are included in the same menu as players. I don't know where everyone gets their changelog entries from, but I know there used to be 4 options..
Tinkering)
There was a trick which made use of the housing system. If a tinker trapped a locked down box in a house, and then unlocked the box and took it outside and killed someone, then the tinker would not get a count. It was obviously something to do with the fact that tinker traps were designed for house security, but it is era accurate and I made use of this very often.
Yes? ^^

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
On the tracking, I took the three options from the UO Demo, I wasn't aware of when they put in the 4th, Players option, but I'll put it in if there's no objections.
You are correct on the tinker trapped boxes. I'll get this working.

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
'99 Stratics also gives the same menu as the Demo.

I don't see any problem keeping this menu. It is accurate after all.

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
The demo is a good guide to go by, but I remember when I played it that it was much different from UO when I logged in. But meh... Where are all these changelists stored, I'd like to scour them for my prize.

Sry to dredge up such an old post, but I just had the opprotunity to put this one to bed while going through old screenshots.Mens Rea wrote:Tracking)

This is from UO:R on SP, but it stands to reason there would be no difference
Re: Tracking and Tinkering
Definitely a wrapped and done deal with this one.
Re: Tracking and Tinkering
Just to clear up confusion. At some point OSI added in the new option, Track Players, but this was post T2A (as proven). This is also when they added that big fancy arrow that points in the direction of your tracking target.

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
That was implemented in a recent patch, couple weeks ago. Trapping boxes on the floor of your home no longer makes the tinker accountable.rocksinhead wrote:while bumping old threads where's the countless trapped boxes? that was october. my tinkerer wants to have untraceable mail bombs
Re: Tracking and Tinkering
But after clicking on "People" were you given the option to click "Players" or "NPCs"?Derrick wrote:Sry to dredge up such an old post, but I just had the opprotunity to put this one to bed while going through old screenshots.Mens Rea wrote:Tracking)

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
Although I have no evidence to point to, I believe that player vendors should not be showing up on the tracking list, however all other NPC's should.
Think of the immense amount of player vendors that existed on OSI and how that would have conflicted with the tracking skill out in the wilderness.

Re: Tracking and Tinkering
I second this. Though I also remember 4 categories and I don't think I ever actually had tracking in the T2A era.Rose wrote:Although I have no evidence to point to, I believe that player vendors should not be showing up on the tracking list, however all other NPC's should.
