ok...so this has happened 3 times in a row

i'm macroing stealing from a pack horse/llama, walk away for 30 minutes and when i get back it's nowhere to be found

does anyone know what happens to these things?

Some players (cA) will continue to lure your pets away (Enticement) until you have paid them some gold.

Unattended pets are assumed to be animals illegally up for sale. AFK is not attended.
