Howdy!

The simplified UO timeline looks something like this:

1) UO Pre-Alpha
2) Alpha
3) Beta
4) Final release
5) T2A and onward

If anyone has a copy of the Alpha or the Beta, please send me a PM.

Here's a shot from the Alpha:

And here's one from the Beta:

Once again, if you have anything related to the Alpha and Beta versions, send me a PM...for shizzle.

Cataclyst: I've looked at that article, but do not see any information leading to a download whatsoever. The article uses the same pre-release screenshots that can be found on the web a dozen times, leading one to deduce that the author does not himself have a copy of game.

As for the other post with a screenshot... That's an image, taken by me, still linked directly to my photobucket ;)

Sagellion: Ultima Online is closely related to Ultima 8, engine-wise. Just how much, I am not sure, yet.

:) Those are the only ones I know of, sorry. I'm pretty sure the T2A Beta is floating around on here somewhere if you'd like to take a look at that, the others though.. probably don't exist anymore :(

The ships ran off a different system. I don't know much about them yet, as none of the versions we currently have contain any data on them, be it graphic or otherwise.

So if you have a rare version, send of a PM, or throw it on a fileshare service and post the link here.

Run Martin!

They're gaining on you!

Gotta love the kids that still take the time to use proper grammar in the face of danger!

Considering how much I loved the ultima series I really like the gritty style of the alpha shots.

Sure the artwork isn't top notch but I love the visible backpacks, just like Ultima 8!

I'm not sure about all these alpha shots though, they look like set-up advertisements for a gaming magazine or something similar

Here's some more pre-alpha screen shots for anyone interested.

What I thought was very interesting... if you look at the character stat gumps... you can see it was a EXP / LVL based system; not the skill based system we are so used to. You'll also notice that STR/DEX/INT did not directly translate to HITS/STAM/MANA; no doubt modifiers applied due to it being a LVL based system.
