Did it for many years before UOA. Now with the targeting system built in to the UO client it wouldn't even be that bad of a transition. The Razor dress macros are nice and it's fantastic to be able to hotkey macros for recall/refresh mount/etc., but if everyone else was similarly "gimped" it would be manageable.

If people didn't use razor they would just use something else. I'd play without it, even with nothing at all, but it would be more a pain in the ass. Razor is arguably the best aid out there, and since everyone uses it here by default it helps to even the playing field.

I had never used an assist program until I started this shard a year+ ago, so I was at a major disadvantage to pretty much everyone else. Now that I'm used to razor though, it would be difficult to go back to using no assist programs. However, I would definitely do it as long as everyone else did and not even consider quitting. Especially since all my chars have been macro'd and are finished, and I have plenty of cash

I voted that I would still play without razor.

I used just the UO client my first 3 or 4 months on UOSA (couldn't get Razor to work, never used it before, so I didn't know what I was missing). I GM'd fishing and swords without it, just to name a few. (For fishing, I'd jam a nickel in my F4 key to repeat last obj, last targ - to save me from carpal tunnel - just like I did back on OSI. I think that makes my nickel "macro" era accurate! )

It's easy to say I'd play without it, since I have most of my chars built up now to comfortable skill levels. If Razor wasn't around, I definitely would not have gotten all my other chars as far. I'd still definately play, but would probably only have focused on 3 of my chars - my swords/dexer, fisher/archer, and mage/tamer.

I don't PvP unless it's not my choice. So I don't really feel like I need the 'Razor' edge to enjoy UOSA.

I like how you can choose all three options in this poll.

I didn't respond to the poll. If Razor was disallowed on this shard, there would have to be an alternative or I would not play. I would welcome something similar to UOA - Razor with less features.

I used just the UO client my first 3 weeks on UOSA. I didn't have UO Assist back in 1999, so when I started here I ran the UO Client directly (just like I did back in the day). I didn't know what Razor was for.

Once I figured out how to use Razor, it made my UO life more enjoyable!

Would I play without Razor? I guess so - just like I did in actual T2A. Now that I'm used to using Razor, I'd miss it though... would be a PITA without it.

One thing I've enjoyed about Razor is writing "clever" macros for things. It's like a mini form of programming!

One thing I don't like about Razor is the ability to make it day all the time (General tab -> Light Levels). I have this switched off, and yes, I cast Nightsight when I go into dungeons.

I voted maybe.

I would just modify the client light levels manually. All sorts of other client mods are allowed right?

I'd consider it, but only if 1) it was a shard-wide deal, 2) Skills became slightly easier to GM, and 3) it was implemented from shard-launch.

In other words, I'd never consider it on UOSA, but maybe on a start-up shard.

I was thinking more along the lines of black potion kegs being sold on the market, hearing the faint sounds of a newbie casting night sight in the distance, and being frustrated when the spell wears off in the middle of dungeon pvp.

I voted yes. It would be just like in era. I didn't use 3rd party programs. All disadvantages would be welcome by me as long as everyone else was in suit. It would add a lot to the game that razor makes obsolete. Like the light levels. Just a little bit more depth to the game. A little more difficulty. More packed equipment. More goods on the market. Don't get me wrong. I love using Razor. But I wouldn't if no one else did. The advantage one using Razor has over one that isn't is far too great. I don't personally thrive on PVP. I'm not at that level anymore/yet. But I am a bit of an escape artist when a group of reds come running in. And without Razor I would be dead every time rather than 1/6 of the time unless they didn't use it either. I would love for everyone to play without Razor for the old school feel of the game. But like SJane3384 said only from launch as there are those that have used Razor to build characters with ease.

Back to the days of Easy Macro Recorder!

Or there's always the old standby: wedge a penny into the F1 key...

Haha, my friends and I used to try to find the best objects to hold down the F1 key. Never thought of a penny, clever. That's pretty much how I (near) GM'd magery in 1999 though: with some heavy object placed over the F1 key.

I would probably still play without razor. The feature that would be most annoying to live without is potion chugging, ...but that might actually be a good thing.

Certain classes of players would just find some "other" program to chug their potions. This would only be removing an equalizing tool from players who follow the rules.
