This links states that materials will not be lost on a failed attempt to tinkering. Working tinkering right now, i find this not to be the case. I lose materials regardless. Also, the message that is stated through the link is not the same as in the game. Not sure which way is correct.

I suspect the Wiki is correct. Thanks for bringing this to my attention :)

Also, i got to 97.5 using heating stands and it took me 1800 ingots to get my next gain. got to 98.1 with another 1k ingots. But now I've spent over 3000 without a gain? what is the deal with that? I train outside of town guards hidden in a forest. everyone says stick it out to gm with heating stands? is that right?

Yeah.

98-100 tinkering is more ingots than 33-98.

Shouldn't have gone 3000 without a gain, that's ridiculous. I probably used roughly 3000 from 95 to GM.

Why bother lying when it's so BLATANTLY obvious?

There is ZERO chance you used 3k ingots from 95 to 100. It just didn't happen.

You're basically telling me that you gained skill on 1 out of every 10 items you created.
