Ingame Auction! (Seeking sellers)

Are you tired of bumping threads needlessly while hoping someone bids on your items? Are you tired of buyers backing out or withdrawing their bids? Do you just want your item sold without having to constantly manage an auction? Then you are in luck. I am going to be hosting an in game auction in the near future.

I am seeking everyone and anyone who wants to auction off an item or property in this event. For the first auction, there will be no transaction fees of any kind so you get to keep the entire bid. If you are interested in auctioning an item, please contact me via PM or reply here and let me know the following:

Item Name
Brief item description you want read (must be accurate to the item)
Starting bid
Note any special considerations (if its a noob item it may decay even in a house, note this, etc)

I will compile a list of all people who are interested in selling items in this auction and, pending enough interest to warrant continuing, I will move forward with advertising and setting up a date and location for the actual auction. Once the auction is determined to be a go, all items will be moved to a secure location in the auction tower/keep and left their until auction night.

The auction house will be set up in a tower or a keep (location to be determined) much like what was done on great lakes in the Rojo Diablo auctions. There will be a counter and secure chests, and a table no one can reach behind. Participants in the auction will bid on items in game as they are displayed. All item transactions will be completed at a later time in a secure environment.

The auction itself will need some peace keeper volunteers to help maintain the peace. Any one disrupting the auction will be banned from the auction house and possibly killed by the peace keepers. I will keep track of multiple bids on each item in case one falls through...false bidders will be barred from all future auctions and events. For this first auction, peace keepers will not be paid (due to no profit coming in) and no permits will be taken out (sorry cA, first ones free). It will mainly be a trial run to determine interest and bidder turnout.

If you have questions, please post them here and I will attempt to answer them. Note: This is a NON-Bloodrock affiliated event. I would have created a new forum name but who would trust a brand new account? Heh. I expect the trade forum to be void of auction and everyone putting their items here.

Here is Rojo's old, post blessing, auction house for nostalgia's sake.

Edit: BTW...this auction does not have to be just for rares and the like. I am willing to bet an auction could be an excellent place to sell resources. In my opinion, the demand of things like iron and lumber is high enough that I would be willing to bet the 'going prices' aren't even accurate anymore. So don't be afraid to auction resources :-)

Seller Participant List Thus Far:
Rose - Couple of unnamed items
Pirul - Three unnamed items
Safir
More anonymous sellers
1 person who will set up a bandage stand (can anyone guess who? Lol)

I think this auction will be a go. I will probably schedule it for a sat or sunday night as that seems to be peak server time.

Edit: Sorry C^V, I meant to say cA for the permit comment. All these letters look the same to a poor old orc :-) But the assistance is still appreciated :-)

We'll gladly try to provide security (at least a divertion), free of charge, anytime!! :D

This is a good idea, and there are 3 items I will put up for auction. Will PM you once we move closer to the date.

Can we sell Windmere Wood's lumber future contracts here or other resource option contracts?

I don't see why not. As long as it is not some sort of scam (and I see no reason to assume it is), a contract is a perfectly biddable item.

I may have some items.
What sort of insurance are you offering the sellers on their items? I saw way too many scams being played out on production shard auction houses.

No insurance, I can't really afford to. If Derrick or staff wants to hold me to the auction I don't mind but I think my trustworthiness speaks for itself given I have never scammed any traders and have been around on both AI and UOSA for quite some time. In addition, this is why I posted on the trade forum.

Though I suppose you are right, this could be some uber plot to steal everyones rare items. If you have any ideas for insurance to make sellers more comfortable, please let me know.

Not really insurance from you yourself scamming. It was never the owners of the auction houses that scammed (since they wanted to run an auction house and it's hard getting started), but either people they employed to help or other situations that caused them to lose everything.

What I'm saying is what happens if you have our items in your possession and your house gets looted or something along those lines? What assurance do we have as sellers that our items are protected? Especially if we're giving you items to sell worth in the hundreds of thousands? But I suppose you just answered that. :P

Well, as far as I know, if the items are in a secure chest and I am the only person friended/co-owned to the tower/keep then only I can get to those items. So thats one line of security. Second is that there will be a bar build around the auction area and the auctioneer plus one or two alts that can res will be logged out in it. Thus the bar will never be lifted and no way for someone to sneak in.

Obviously, it would be prudent to friend some other defenders so more than one person can ban trouble makers but this reduces the security of a secure container. So against those helping out, the bar would be the only line of defense.

I am up for suggestions if you feel there is more that can be done. But it is a very good question and a very good point.

I would like to point out, this auction does NOT have to be for super rare items. If you have 1000 ingots or even kegs of potions, you can still auction them! I would love to get some people submitting bulk resources for this because I would personally like to see what the resources get auctioned off for.
